I wanna say yes bc the head is purple and she has nice blushing but if she is then she certainly isnt the prettiest firefly ive seen. :/
-
Hottest fire ever or dull firefly that i wouldnt buy.
-
Thats why im on the fence... Either super hot fire or not so nice firefly.
It just seems i dont see Fires with this much yellow. But also fireflys at this age seem so much brighter and blushed where the black is.
-
My first impression was a super nice fire.

The third pic I can sorta see a pastel influence, the darker orange peeking through on the front 1/3 of the snake.

I think she's a kinda dirty Firefly??
Here's my Firefly. Don't know if it helps, or not. Go to Dave Wilbanks site and look at the variety of colors on his FireFly's. I pretty much picked the cleanest one he had a few weeks back. He has a few that resemble your's. The Fire's are much darker.
Look how clean my little Fiona is :D

Hey Richard - I am with the rest of the group on this one, looking like a nice fire or a lower quality firefly.
Did you produce this snake or is this something you are looking to aquire? If this is yours, fatten her up and prove her out! ;D
I like my FireFlies to be extreme, either with some insane blushing or very vibrant contrast from darks to lights.
Here is one of my girls as an example:

Dull Firefly imo.
The head is typical blushing from the pastel gene.
And there's no fire head spot that's typical for single gene fires.

Re: Is this a Firefly??? Opinions Please
Thanks to everyone that has responded.
Im a boa constrictor breeder but i have about 11 ball pythons, i actually traded for this firefly his pics were bad and when the snake came in it didnt pop out
to me as other firefly's do. Ive had people say its probably a lower grade firefly but this is why i think its not a pastel or just a fire.
1. Pastels have more oranges with yellows so young and yellowish eyes, this girl has black eyes.
2. I dont think its just a fire as i have never seen a fire with this much yellow plus the head blushing.
So i wanted to know if i traded $750-800 value for a firefly female or just a $350-400 killer fire. Or worst super nice pastel female $200. Lol.
More opinions welcomed.
And thanks again.

1. Actually pastels with a lot of orange is typically an unwanted trait. More orange, the more brown it's going to be as an adult. The more bright yellow, the better.
2. Fires can get that bright yellow cream colored, but not usually as hatchlings. They brighten up with age.
Are you going to breed her or is she just a pet?
Because for breeding purposes, I would rather have a killer fire or a super nice pastel female than a dirty looking firefly. Dirty = dirty babies usually.

It's definitely not a pastel.
If it's a firefly, I wouldn't have bought it.
If it's a fire, you slightly overpaid. However, I say slightly because again, IF it is JUST a fire, it's one of the nicest fires I've seen :gj:.
I would have stayed away tbh. Proving it to be either a low grade firefly or a high grade fire just isn't my cup of tea.

Re: Is this a Firefly??? Opinions Please
Well after emailing lots of ball python people posting here and other forums the majority say its a firefly.
They also say it can get better with each shed (this girl is on 1 shed) so she will probably get better.
Of course it will be used for breeding one day, who gets a firefly for just a pet?
Thanks for the input guys.

I traded boas for it, pics were taken with a wacked camera so i tried to give the guy the benefit of the doubt. It actually came in
better than the photos.

Lot's of people have high end collections that are pet-only.
Take Slim(one of the moderators) for example, he has top notch multi-gene snakes in his collection, but he doesn't breed.
Some simply enjoy and appreciate the beauty of a top dollar snake w/o wanting to breed it.
And a close friend of mine is buying a Blue Eyed Lucy. It's her first snake and just wants a beautiful pet.

Looking forward to seeing how she looks after a few sheds, keep us posted.

I don't think she has enough yellow. Why do you ask what she is? Did you buy her as a fire?

If you would have read the thread it says i traded her as a firefly.
I am convinced by many that she is indeed a firefly.
Thanks

Hard to say. There's no head spot for the a regular fire, but the head doesn't seem purple enough to be a firefly. Hmmmmm

No way is it a regular Fire... If anyone has seen a Fire with this color please give me there info. Lol.
I traded for a Firefly but i guess i just got a average one, but hopefully she will get brighter with each shed. She only has 1 shed under her belt.

Very nice Fires but mine does look much more of a brighter yellow, so im sure it is a Firefly indeed.
-
Very interesting. I'm very curious to see how this girl matures ... I wonder if she may turn out to be a proverbial ugly duckling.
I feel as though most of the poor-quality, poopy-looking fireflies I've seen were difficult to tell apart from pastels, not fires ...

You are right... I it does look like a high grade pastel but still no pastel look at the black eyes she has.

No offence, but I don't think she looks like a high grade pastel either..... Too brown for a quality pastel.... My avatar is my pastel girl yawning. She is bright yellow.

Pastels have green eyes, fires have black eyes, firefly's have a bluish-green colored eye.

No, actually my point was that she doesn't look terribly pastel, IMO. To me, she looks like a really great fire, whereas most of the other "iffy" fireflies I've seen have looked like good pastels.
So ... I don't know what that means.
