I was sold as s Mojave but.....

I definitely think it is a lesser/butter

I could see light mojave. That's about the coloration on my mojave. My butter and my lesser bee are a lot lighter and creamier in color...

I agree, the pattern is lesser/butter. The color looks like butter to me since it's closer to the mojo color, but I'm no expert

Here are the crucial questions that nobody has bothered to ask. Who did you purchase the snake from and what was the pairing that produced this snake? Everyone saying butter/lesser are going off of a so-so picture on the internet, but have no firsthand knowledge about the snake. What have you been told by the person you purchased the snake from?

The original post said the breeder forgot and doesn't know. (Stated under the photo)

And I personally thought the picture was pretty clear of a lesser/butter...... I don't know, could just be me.

I dunno... I don't see what I associate as butter or lesser colors in the original pic. But, I'm in the minority, so who knows. I would hope that the breeder at least knows what genes they have in their collection. Does he/she have butter or lesser in his breeding groups? I'd be hesitant to buy from anyone if they can't even tell me what genetics they're breeding...

Having produced lessers, butters and mojaves I can say from my own experience hatching them out of eggs, that is not a mojave.

I say lesser/butter too: I'm not seeing any Mojo in that baby.

I also have to say lesser/butter. It makes me wonder who you purchased this snake from, if for 1) he said it was a mojo, and 2) says he doesn't remember. Definitely someone I would not purchase from.

It sounds like you have a pretty great vet to be able to pick up on such a subtle difference between the mojave and lesser/butter. Definitely a keeper :gj:

For sure lesser/butter. Mojos will have the 'donuts' along their sides. Your little guy has zero donuts. IMO, kinda a lucky if you don't mind not getting a mojave...

he breeds high end ball pythons and I was picking up a male lemon blast from him. So I showed him a pic.. of the mojave... lol I am a nook on the ball pythons

You'll have to do some research on that and form your own opinion. There are two different camps on the lesser/butter debate. Are they the same morph or aren't they? I see enough difference between what I've seen labeled lesser and what I've seen labeled butter to believe that they are two very similar morphs, but they are two separate morphs. Others are of the opinion that lesser and butter are the same morph, just named by two different people who produced them.

EDIT: But it's definitely not a butter lesser (dual gene combo). That produces an all white snake...

man num 1 got man num 2 into snakes about 10 years ago.
Man num 2 did realy good in the snake bus.
1 year ago num 2 got cancer real bad, the dude is 85...
So man num 1 is helping num 2 to sell everything....
So it could of been a mix up, Not good record keeping, moving of the snakes from Vir to tenn who knows
He is a beautiful snake, I just wanted to know what every one thought. Thank you all....

Pattern looks Lesser/Butter, but color looks Mojo to me. Our Mojo is pretty bright w/ a reduced pattern.
