4 Years Later..
I couldn't afford a black eyed leucistic back then(2008) so I took the roundabout route and bought a pair of fires from Bob Clark. Their first clutch together(not much breeding interest last year) and the three eggs on the bottom left are BELs! Pretty exciting day for me, can't wait for the little suckers to crawl out so I can see how much they vary! Please enjoy and excuse me for the nana dance.

congrats, this is one of my future projects(hence why i want a firefly female;))
-
Gratz! I'm waiting on a clutch that will hopefully give me my blue eyed lucy.
-
Very big congrats :gj::gj::gj::gj:
Good thing are made in due time LOL
-
Thanks all, time sure did crawl along but well worth it to see that white nose!
-
Super fires are so valuable genetically! Congrats !!
-
Congrats! I bet that's really exciting!
:D
Hope to see out of egg photos soon!
-
Thanks again! I'm interested to see how much yellow these have coming from the same parents/clutch. I was browsing Mike Wilbanks' site and saw this tidbit:
Quote:
While our sample size is still way too small to make any definitive declarations about the frequency of the yellow pigmentation, we can share our experience for what it is worth. Our data shows that about 25% are pure white with no yellow pigmentation, about 65% have some amount of yellow from 1 or 2 spots to several and about 10% have extreme yellow/orange pigmentation.
I love em all but it'd be cool if I got one of each type, dare to dream.. :D
-
Gratz! Can't wait to see them! And good luck on that spots thing too!
-
-
Little update, 2 of the leucies are out and they're both female, looks like I'll be keeping them all! I'd like a male too but I won't complain if the 3rd is a girl as well. :D
-
Well let's see some pictures! Stop holding out
-
-
Congrats! And now time to see the little buggers
-
-
Grats Dude!!!! I love the Black eyed too! Must have pics soon! :gj::gj:

Here ya'll go, cute little suckers! Their red pupils are insane, I tried getting some macro shots but photography is one of my weak points. When my sister visits in December I'll ask her to take some pictures. Thanks again everyone.

Check out what's new on my website... www.Homegrownscales.com

They look great. Good Job:)

They look AWESOME! I almost like the one on the left with the more yellow better. I thought you could only get a few dots of yellow, didnt realize some had huge splotches like that. How cool, cant wait to get/possibly hatch out my own someday!
-
Wowzer! I love the one with all the yellow! Very pretty.

I like when they're either all white or super blotched myself - not as big a fan of 1-2 yellow spots. There seems to be no rhyme or reason to what comes out so at least choosing holdbacks isn't a tough decision - keep them all! :D
-
Goodness they're lovely! I can't wait to see your holdback when they grow up. Oooo I can't wait to make my own one day. Mucho congrats!

-
Congrats!

Nice to see years of work pay off:gj:

Thanks again everyone! I'll update with pics when the final one emerges, slowpoke seems to enjoy torturing me.. :D

Re: 4 Years Later..
congrats!!! They both look great! I'm picking up a female fire this year and hopefully ill be hatching some BEL'S in a few years
-
Congrats!! Nothing wrong with buying the combos but nothing beats doing it yourself!! WTG!
-
Gorgeous! Absolutely stunning babies. Congratulations!
-
Congrats! Those are some nice odds right there. And some SMOKIN super fires. They're on my to-do list as well so I need to hurry up and pick up a pair...
-
Everyone is finally out of their eggs and the third super is a male! This puts my tally at 1.1 fire, 0.2 normal, and 1.2 super fire, although, I'll pop the females 3-4 more times over the course of the month before I'm 100% satisfied. Thanks again everybody for the kind words.

Congrats! Love the yellow spots.
-
So, it would seem I was being a bit too apprehensive on the first round of popping(can't blame myself, I was excited and scared of applying too much pressure). Turns out there's only one female in this batch - a little fire girl. Now I'm faced with the impossible choice of which one to keep! :(
-
Congrats, I also the the het way. It's nice when it pays off.

They're incredible! Wow!
Not to hijack, but is anything else in the Black-Eyed complex besides Fires?
-
Congrats John! Pretty awesome to get to the end of a project. And then you get to pick what is next :D
