My two BP's have 9" glass pie pans for water dishes. I clean and change the water when they look like they need it.

my snake doesnt like to soak in the water but i still clean the water everyday. the way i see it is that i dont like to drink water that has been out for a few days because of all the microorganisms that are in the air and land on the water.

(I saw this movie in science that was very disturbing about all the micro-organisms around us)

I change it every day. it might sound gross, but we have fruitflies in our house that breed in any stagnant water anywhere, so I change it out of anti-fruitfly paranoia. I gotta cut down on those danm aquariums!

Every day. You don't want to know how fast bacteries grow in non floating water in a warm cage! It's the biggest source of bacteries in your cage.

What do you pay for live feeders?
Yeah I change it every couple days. And of course around shedding/pooping time; the snake poops in the water bowl. Appearantly I have a toilet trained snake. Much easier to clean than in the corner of the cage or under a hide.

Are bps "clean" animals? I've found that my bd spends 99% of its time in its hides, but every time its defacated (white or the black stuff), it does it outside of its hide. Whats up with that?

    Samson's fecal exam results...
They don't want predators being able to track them to the burrows where they're sleeping during the day by the smell of their feces. A lot of reptiles will go in water because the water they encounter naturally is likely to carry it away from them.

Thats interesting. I guess we have to realize that bps and other snakes are definitly not at the top of the food chain...

Nope, they're not. On the other hand, crocs and gators aren't threatened by much once they reach adult size, nor are giant snakes like anacondas or burms. A bp is definitely of a size to make it a potential food item for a number of predators.
