Active even after eaten on the night (only)

Recently after feeding Theron, he will be mostly active on the night time for about an hour or two is this because he is outgrowing his current meal?
the meal i am currently feeding is f/t medium mouse which is around 18g, and he weighs around 160g which means he should be eating 24grams but this his weight without him pooping after 2 meals so i am not so sure on his actual weight... his last recorded weight after poop was 135g.

Do you think i should bump him up to large mice? which are 23-29g here in the United Kingdom?

Bps are nocturnal, if they are active it will be at night. Sounds like you are feeding within range. Maybe hes just getting his exercise

I thought when bps have eaten they would hide throughout the night? usually when he was much smaller after a big meal he would hide for 2days and 2night straight, also does anyone know when i should bump him up to large mice?

That size mouse should be okay for now, though I generally like to keep the mouse/rat weights as close to 15% as possible.(I breed rats though so its a little easier for me to be precise). I know that in most scenarios a hiding snake is a happy snake, but some are a little more brave then others. I'd double check your temps to make sure theyre on point but my girls come out exploring at night fairly often, or to get a drink of water even. I have rubber frogs quarium sealented to the sides of my tanks and sometimes they'll even coil around those for hours at a time whether it be the warm or cool side.

Each snake is different. Have you double checked your temps? Prey size should be 10-15% of body weight.

In most cases a snake will stay put for a day or two after feeding. The percentage guide is just another guide for feeding nothing more. I tend to go more off thickness than weight. Which in doing this I find the prey is usually around the suggested percentage.

I feed prey just as wide or just a hair larger than the thickest part of the snake. Get the larger mouse and see if it is near your snakes size. If it is, he will be able to eat it without a problem.

If he eats a larger mouse and does not hide i would be surprised. Then I would say we need to check your temps. But having helped you get ask that right I would think it should still be good. Has anything changed in the room temp wise?

Yea my temps are pretty much spot on, hot spot is around 88-90, cool end is around 80 and i can only remember the ambient in Celsius which is around 25/26, the only reason i asked this question is before when he was smaller and i would feed him these mice i wouldn't honestly not see him for 2 days but now i see him sometimes when i wake up in the night so i was just curious if i should up his feed, thanks for the replies :D

I almost feel like hiding would be something hatchlings do more than adults. While by nature they are cautious, these animals have never seen a predator in their life, and if handled well, dont have any reason to fear the handler. He may have just realized that nothing bad is going to happen to him haha.(None of this is scientifically backed as far as I know. Just my theory) If snakes are capable of medium-complex association I cant see why they wouldnt explore more as they get older and more experienced

Edit: I just watched the video. That looks like a bit of a small enclosure to me. What size tub is it? At least from the video it doesnt look long enough to provide a good heat gradient.

I watched it. For your question an overhead view would have made it easier to get an idea for the two sizes. But it was a good idea. He had a nice feeding response.

A snake is not hiding after being fed out of fear. They are digesting the food. Is like eating a huge meal and all you want to do is sit in a recliner and take a nap.

The reason it was a bit of weird angle, I originally made the video for a friend who wanted to see the snake feed, but then I thought it would suit the question I wanted to ask, he fed 4 weeks in a row refused 2 rats but from today he has now fed 7 weeks in a row. :)

I know it is so annoying, I have brought my self to the conclusion of him only liking rodents with fur, I tried him with rat pups and fluffs which have barley any fur.. I know this is probably not true but its what I tell my self lol

Sometimes the snake won't eat pretty that appears different than their norm. Wait till it can take a small rat and you may have a better reaction.

I cant remember what size the tub is I am from the uk so the 16qt and like 41qt have no meaning to me, like they do to you lol.. it think its a perfect fit he can fully stretch his body and he never seems to be stressed at all the video does make it seem a little small i noticed that myself also :)

For a while my very first ball python would eat 6+ mouse pinks because she was too chicken to step up to fuzzies. I was wondering if she hated anything with fur for a while haha.
