Ball Python eggs with no mate
My Ball laid 5 eggs the other day out of no where. I have had her since she was a baby and she has never been with a male. She is about 15 years old. She had been acting off the last month or so, being more agressive, active and not eating. Then next thing I know there are eggs in her tank. Ohh and I thought I had a male so the doctor said. 4 of the eggs are brown so I know they are "slugs" but there is one white one and she is guarding them with her life. My question is should I just leave her alone with them for the 60 days or so or should I try and remove them? Any advice is appreciated

Wow. I find it odd that she laid eggs but interesting too. Hmm. Sorry I won't be much help though. I personally would leave her alone for awhile but I have no clutch experience yet.

Maybe she thinks she's a chicken? Fry them for breakfast!!!!

Seriously though, try candling them and see if they have veins. If you get babies I totally call dibs on buying a Jesus snake.

Well, you should definitely rename her Mary. Can you snap a picture of the clutch?

    This isn't unheard of.
    It does happen.
The one egg may be fertile and it will just be a complete copy of herself.
Its happened before on this forum too.
I do t really remember if its a Asexual copy of the mother or if it will look different from mom but I know it does happen.
Cheers and hope its fertile. If it is I'd take it out and incubate it.

I will try and get a picture, she does not ever leave it alone, and I do not want to disturb her. My husband got one the other day but it is foggy I will post this afternoon anyway.

Parthogenesis Reproduction from an ovum without fertilization. It's happened a couple time's to a few of our member's. OP I wouldn't candle or remove the egg unless you have a way to incubate it yourself.

Guys...cots not Jesus it's parthenogenesis. Basically a hermaphrodite that fertilized herself. It was done with a rattlesnake and the baby is being kept to see if it is genetic. Anyways, still awesome

Yeah, that's fertile, but the egg's not in great shape. You might want to see if you can get an incubator set up for it.
