Look what followed me home today
I found this girl on craigslist and the owner gave me a great deal on her. She is a 2008, I don't have a weight on her (my scale is in WI >_<). She does have some mites and is in QT, but I had to get some pictures first. :D

    I named her Xena. :)

    Without flash:

In her bare bones cage setup (yes it is a tank, but I am prepared for humidity issues) with flash:

She is more yellow than these pictures show. :D

I don't think I would pay for a snake with mites, just me though. Hope you got a killer deal. She is very pretty though.

Please excuse any errors sent from my crap phone.

    Thank you. :)

I've dealt with mites before so they don't seem like a huge deal to me. At least this time I knew to expect them (the owner did warn me before hand) so I don't need to treat my boa that is also in QT because I was able to QT her separately.

Mites are horrible but other than that she is in great condition so it seams like a small price to pay. At least mites are fairly easy to treat.

I hope I am able to wipe them out quickly. Last time I treated for mites when I had an out break in my QT rack it only took one treatment. I soaked her to kill the ones on her and sprayed her cage down with prevent-a-mite. I will spray again in a few weeks but that should take care of the problem. :please:

She is even more impressive in person. I love that she is a high white, high yellow bee. I couldn't ask for more. :D

She is a bumble bee (pastel spider).

I don't think she is a killer bee, I think she is just a really nice bee. You're right, mites are cureable and she's nice enough that it doesn't feel like a bother to deal with them. :D

Nice bee. Don't know that I would have brought home an animals knowing it had mites, there are so many other healthy animals our there. Yes they are easy to treat, but why knowingly bring that in? No thanks.

She is nice and mites are easy to get rid of on one snake. I always do two treatments just to make sure there are none left behind. It only takes one to cause alot of trouble.

I really hate mites, but given what I paid for her and that I knew in advance it doesn't seem like a big deal. I wouldn't really call her unhealthy either. She has mites, it's not like she has 10 layers of stuck shed, severely under weight and has an RI like some craigslist pickups are. Her previous owner seemed to genuinely care for his collection but he had to let them go because of a short notice move and his new place wouldn't let him have the snakes.

Honestly you run the risk of snake mites with every new addition you pick up. The last time I had to treat for mites was in QT rack and they came in from a snake that I got from a highly reputable breeder. It was a nightmare treating the 8 snakes in my QT rack and what made it worse was the snake that brought them in was only in my possession for less than 36 hours because I sent her back for a refund because she had a major kink that wasn't obvious in the breeders photos of her and they didn't disclose that information before hand. I would much rather know in advance that a snake will be coming in with mites than end up with mites in a QT collection because the "healthy" snake a breeder sent me had them.

You are right, treating one snake isn't that bad. I plan to do at least one more treatment to be sure because having one survive and infesting my collection when I move her out of QT would suck. One snake isn't bad, but 30+ would be pretty horrible. >_<

Yeah, I'd buy that bee, mites and all.

(Just make sure your QT is good and far from the rest of your collection? Stupid mites have legs...)

Lol, I'm glad someone agrees with me. She's a really nice bee. :D

She's in a different room, but it's still on the same floor. When I dealt with mites last time being in a different room was enough to protect my collection, I hope that's enough this time. :)

Yeah, I don't anticipate having to fight the mites for long. She's in great condition otherwise. :D
