Would this work well as a rack?
Can I only insert images from online?

I've had this thing for a while and with a piece of thin plastic on the bottom to tighten up the space at the top I think it will work great as a rack. I was also thinking of just padding the bottom with duct tape to seal up the top a little more as well. I just ordered a thermostat and some flex tape and was thinking about building my own rack but I'm leaning towards just turning this into a rack instead. How thick is the flex tape? That is one concern of mine when trying to tighten up the tub's.

You need to upload your photos to a host, like photobucket.com

    Too flexible, IMO--they'd get out.

I tried something just like that and I watched as my Baby BP pushed right out.

Thanks for the advice I guess I'm just going to start with a couple of 28 qt tubs with the lid right on them from kmart and some holes in the side to start. I got some flexwatt tape and a thermostat too. How many holes should I put in the tub?

I have seen this question asked about this type of shelf system and the resounding answer is no, it will not work well at all.

If you want cheap, get a bookshelf and nail the shelves so the tub with lid barely slides into the slot.
Then tape heat tape down onto the shelves and plug it into a thermostat....

If I just kept them in the tub's without the rack but eventually wanted to move them into a rack what is the best way to set up the flex watt so that eventually I can move it to a rack?

On a shelf, any wood shelf. The tub just sits on the flexwatt.

Do not trust locking lid tubs to hold snakes in without something holding the lid down(not books!!)
I see bookshelves like this for $5 at garage sales and even goodwill occasionally.
After losing a few snakes that were in tubs sitting on the counter top I decided enough was enough, no more tubs without a rack of some sort...

I used the same type of system and just built my own shelves for it.

That's a nice looking rack! I've been researching racks for a bit and there is so many different types it makes my head spin. The whole book on top of the tub dream has sadly subsided guess I'm just going to have to build a rack. Can't wait for my thermostat and heat tape to get here so I can start crafting something.

This is one of the only sites where it is perfectly acceptable to tell someone that they have a nice rack. Or cute Balls.

Thanks! Just a heads up though I thought the 3 shelf would be plenty. Unfortunately all three had been full within a month or so. Next step is building a rack to hold 32qt. and 16 qt. I already have 10 16 qt. tubs ready to go! I plan on it being able to hold 8-10 32 qts. or 16-20 16 qts. or a few combos of either.

I went out and bought some tubs with very sturdy locking lids and bought a plastic shelfing system from walmart and it works really good
