people these days folks... so i'm at work today (cooking) and it's about 12:00pm, and a 30ish year old lady comes in. You know those "no-bread" diets (i'm sure there's a techincal term)? Well, she evidentally doesn't eat bread according to her diet. So anyway, she orders a hot dog, with chilli, relish, ketchup, mustard, onions , and cole slaw. I slop together this mountain of hotdog and condements, only to hear her complaning about how messy her hot dog was. How on earth do you make a hotdog with all that garbage on it, without a FREAKIN' bun? I say we team up and just walk around, slap common sense into everybody we see. Ya feelin' me?? :) :)

Not to mention onions are just cellular fiber, water, and sugar and shouldn't be allowed on her diet ...

Honestly....I can't comprehend why someone would think a hot dog, plus all the other garbage she piled on it would be OK to eat, but a bun wouldn't. There's not the least bit of nutritional value in any of that (what little there might be in the onions and cole slaw is easily overridden by all the fat and sodium in the rest!)...so why not add a little white bread to hold it all together? Argh...diets...that's a whole new thread, isn't it?
Will...if she comes in again...ask her if she'd like for you to put it all in the blender and into a cup with a straw!

Maybe everyone ought to try out the Ewell Gibbons Diet. Plenty of Fiber in that diet.
How many of ya out there have heard of Ewell Gibbons? Probably just us old fogies will remember him. :D
Oh, and Will.....My youngest daughter always orders her Hamburger with no bun. Just ketchup, lettuce and pickle on it. But that's not near as messy as you are talking about.

Ewell Gibbons , damn now that was a while ago. He was the wild fruit and nuts dude!

LOL, Paul! I actually watched a 60 Minutes or Dateline or something about Dr. Atkins last week, and his doctor swore that his heart trouble, cardiomyopathy (which just means trouble with the heart that doesn't have its own name and covers a lot of different conditions), was caused by a virus and not his diet and that, in fact, his arteries were remarkably clear. I don't know if it's true or not, but time will certainly be the best indicator of how good or bad the Atkins diet is for people.

I feel ya Will. I took my neice and nephews to Burger King last night and they offered me a No Carb Whopper with all the trimmings. I was thinking, how da hell can you get a Whopper with all the trimmings and no bun? How would they serve that anyway, on a paper plate or something? I looked at her like she was crazy and took those rugrats for some Pizza.

The first time I saw a fast food dump around here advertising the "low carb" burger (using the lettuce like the "bun" instead of bread), I thought it was a joke.
The real joke was the night we were in there and this drunk gal came in and ordered one of those, and then complained that it didn't have a bun.
Anyone remember the commercial for the Ultimate Cheeseburger from Jack In The Box where the guy asks, "What's with the bun? It's not meat or cheese!" Jack bursts in and says that, without a bun, you'd just have meat and cheese in your hand, and the guy replies, "So?" They could redo that commerical and make it for the "Atkins Ultimate Cheeseburger"...
