BP went into the TOilet?!?!?

Has anyone had this happen?? When they lost their BP's do they go into the toilet???

This morning i had woken up to go to the washroom and found that my toilet lid was down. I didnt remember putting it down but thought no more of it.

Later on i found out my piebald had gotten out. SHE must have knocked the toilet lid down. She is in my room but my room has a bathroom in it.

I've searched everywhere and i cannot find her. I know she was on the counter in my bathroom as stuff was knocked off but she is no where to be found.

I'm freaking out cause i obviously flushed this morning.

Could she be in the toilet? and what do i do?!

I highly doubt she crawled down the toilet. Keep looking. Do an intensive search within a three foot radius of where she escaped. That is normally where you will find them.

Just look everywhere, your BP can be in the most unexpected places... when my baby ball escaped the first time i found him on top of my radiator which is like 4ft off the ground and the next time he escaped i found him on top of my computer, just look EVERYWHERE!

I really doubt it... if you have a kick plate under your sink I would check there. Sometimes there is a gap where the kick plate meets the cabinet. A small snake could easily squeeze through there.

Check laundry, bookshelves, tiny spaces you don't think the snake could fit. Literally check everywhere.

Check behind the toilet tank, too. More than once, I've heard of a ball python wedging themselves up into that space between the tank and the wall.

ANY space that seems too small, any gap that seems too narrow...check there. They will surprise you with the places they'll go and the things they'll fit into.

My bedroom has a ensuite, so it has a bathroom to it with a bathtub. The sink has cabinets around it with draws.

I know for a fact that she had been in my washroom as the toilet lid was down and my contact cases fell off the counter.

As far as that i'm not sure where she is but i am cleaning and tearing up everything.

There have been so many stories of people finding ball pythons in their toilets, they've got to have gotten there somehow right?

Keep looking! Look specifically for stuff that gives of heat. Fridge washer dryer computer! Anything keep us posted

Have you looked up under the Inside of the toilet bowl. Theres a lip there where a decent sized bp could wedge themselves in.

Also, if you have a cabinet under your sink, feel up under the edge, sometimes there is a gap there.

She is 500g so she's got somewhat of a girth to her.

Luckily i always keep my bedroom door closed so she would have to be in my bedroom somewhere. Only way out would be the toilet =(

I know that it has been mentioned in the thread already, but did you get down on the floor in front of the bathroom cabinet and see if there is an opening under the ledge of the kick plate. A 500 gram snake can easily get through about a 2X2 hole. If there is a hole, the snake will be hiding behind the kick plate and under the cabinet bottom under the sink. There was someone on this forum that just went through this maybe two weeks ago and that was where they found their snake.

The snake didn't go into the toilet. It would drown, and they don't like being underwater for any period of time. Try putting plastic bags around the room. You'll hear them if the snake touches them. Other than that, just look everywhere. Leave the enclosure open, sometimes they come back because it is warm.

Check inside shoes, that's where we found mine.

Check everything like they are saying.....ANYTHING with a gap in it, size doesn't matter right now. Just grab you a flashlight and look everywhere. I would also suggest what I have seen others say is to get some live food and put it in a container on the floor to try and lure the snake out to get it!

OMG THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU TO EVERYONE.

I waited till it got dark out and i snuck into the washroom. (I kept the door closed all day, because if she was in there she would stay there)

I checked under the counter where the kick plate was and LO and BEHOLD i saw her pretty little face starring back at me.

Right away she popped back in. The hole in the kick plate is literally 1.5" x 1"5 inches. I can't get to her without taking the counter apart so i'm waiting to lure her out.

I promptly put down the toilet lid and stacked a heavy paint can on it for good measure. Opened the windows to make the washroom as cold as possible.

I then set out several heat pads with hides on top of them. On one of them i left her tub with the lid open and a F/T mouse in it.

For the cherry on top I placed a live mouse in a critter keeper.

Hope she comes out soon!

Isn't it just four screws to undo the kickplate? It seems to me like you're going through a whole lot of effort when you could get the snake out in 10 minutes.

No screws on my kickplate unfortunately. None that i can see anyways.

At best it is probably attached with finishing nails. At worst it could be glued. I doubt there is any heat source under there so it comes down to should you peel the face plate off or wait for her to come out on her own. What if it takes a week? If you peel the plate off it's a relatively simple and inexpensive repair and then you would have the relief of having your baby back safe in her home.

Is there a screen on the windows? :O

Ya there are screens on the windows. I live in Canada so it would be iffy not to. They also locked and i had double checked.

You are right they are finishing nails. I'll see if i can get a flat headed screwdriver and pry it open or not.

What is usually under the counter? I don't think it would be a crawlspace but i'm not sure.

Also it is my parents house so a little reluctant to rip it apart per say :tears:

Its probably just a little space between the floor and the bottom of the counter. There may be a pipe in there too, unless its coming from the wall!!! But thats really about it!!

If you can hammer the nails back in after you take it off without breaking it or snapping it I would go ahead and do so.

wait it out the night before you start taking stuff apart. seems like your set up will work. just don't go in the room for 24 hrs, and plug the sink hole too...just in case.

They did find her. Underneath the bathroom cabinet. She is still there though, trying to lure her out instead of ripping apart the kick plate.

Rip it apart & pay your parents back for any damage done, if not possible to repay them, do some work around the house (other than that, for now).

Update please? Did you ever get her out?

I just want to say thanks to this thread I found our baby BP. She was missing for two weeks when I stumbled upon your messages I jumped out of bed went straight into the bathroom and there she was in a tiny space between the wall and kick plate. Thank you all so much!!

How is she?

How are so many people losing their snakes? Pay attention, that should be the first thing on your list of to-do's is making sure they're safe and secure.

So true, but it’s the nature of the beast! We keep one of the most difficult animals in captivity to contain. They are true “escape artists”. I have a large message on the wall of the reptile room that says “ Double Check That All Tubs Are Closed”! Still I have had escapes. Thankfully not many at all.

My bp escaped twice. It's so easy to underestimate their determination to escape. It's positively inhuman!

We need alarms like they have when windows open in busses, soon as the lid pops up the alarm beeps or sprays you with water idk :rofl:
