I'm still learning how to pick out the key differences between the two. But I'm going to say black pastel. He's gorgeous!

It's got some traits from both. This is a tough one! I'd have to vote cinny though XD

I vote cinny just due to the lack of alien head squiggles, though some black pastels don't have much of those either...

i say cinny judging the head. but it's kind of tough i have seen a cinny like that. also i think black pastels are a little darker and the blushing more whiter.

    Cinnamon.

Look at the granite like spotting in the donuts in the pic chris posted^

The OP's snake doesnt have much of that and is very clean. The reason most people are probably leaning towards BP is bc the snake is very black, unlike the reddish brown color most cinnamons have. Its possible for a cinnamon to be black like that, ive seen some like it. They all dont come out reddsish brown and im sure some people probably breed for the black. I myself prefer the reddish brown but i love all cinni's so the black ones like that are nice too!:)

    Big female black pastel

Same female in bright light, how much light you use highly effects the look of a black pastel maybe more than most snakes...

Just another reason they should be considered the same....just my opinion.

    Cinny to me at first.

However, there is a few squiggles around the tail end of the snake? Maybe a poor BP?

My gut screams BP but just because of how dark it is. The patterning reminds me of cinnamon. So...who knows! Sounds like you'll have to breed him at some point to find out. :P

I will go with black pastel. My cinni's have lighter brown heads and the yellow line almost melts into their pattern. It not as bright as they are on black pastels. I am strictly going off of head pattern because body pattern is a whole different ball game and I might have a different answer on that part.

This response doesnt make sense lol. You have to take the whole package into account. Thats like saying you judge all athletes based on how fast they are lol

Based on the shape of those alien eyes, I'm going to say it's not a cinny.

    And the verdict is?.....both. Haha

That's a tough one, personally I'd call it a black pastel. To me a cinnamon should be a light cinnamon color all over, not just on the head.

In the end, does it really matter? It's a great looking snake either way.

I'm on the cinny train LOL

    What is he sold as?

There is no gain for anyone to sell a cinny as black pastel or vice versa.

There are cinnies looking like black pastel and black pastel looking like cinnies (I have one of them, and know she is a black pastel since I produced her)

Here's a great example of a snake that has both the Black Pastel Squiggles and the Cinny blushed back and color.

Is there any way to prove to prove out he's a black pastel or cinni? Like breeding him to a certain morph that makes it more distict such as to a pastel possibly if black pewters and pewters can be distinct enough to differientiate? I'll get some better pics of him up hopefully later today he's added couple hundred grams since the thread started looks little different...
