Vanilla and Vanilla Combos - Pics and Opinions Please
    Morning Everyone,

I have recently been offered a near breeding size Vanilla Female for a decent price and am looking for some advice... Hoping that someone could provide me with their opinions on this morph and the combos it produces. I checked out World Of Ball Pythons, but they only had a few pics and I'm not 100% sure what a good example of a 'Vanilla' should look like.

    Pics please!

    Thanks!

Here's a recent photo of my vanilla girl. She's an exceptional example of the mutation IMO:

Also, here's a photo of my vanilla pewter girl.

Nice looking girls Russ. I really like how light the Vanilla Pewter is...

The one I have lined up is around 1000 grams so she isn't too far away from the breeding game. Paying close attention to the picture of your Vanilla I am going to have another look at the one I have my eye on to compare.

    Thanks.

You have any pics of it as a hatchling? Curious to see how their pattern and colour progess as they age.

I dont own any so not sure what my opinions worth but I say if she turns out to look pretty good you definitely should jump on that! There is still a lot of untapped potential with the morph. I really love the fire influence in the vanilla creams and super vanillas are sweet! I think its a great morph to get into IMO....

And those pewter vanillas are smokin! :gj:

Here's a couple of photos of my Vanillas.

I think Vanillas are way underrated. So many people went berserk over the Vanilla Cream, the combo potential is still largely untapped.

This is my breeder male, he's around the 1000 gram mark.

This is a recent hatchling of his.

And this is a vanilla mojave girl of his.

She just shed out tonight, and is even more yellow than before.

I love Nilla combos. I love the fire disco. Since fire and nilla are similar i wonder what a vanilla disco or even a fire vanilla disco would look like?!?! :O

I do not think Fire Vanilla Disco is possible since they all likely sit on the same spot.

Um kind of actually. If genes are allelic to each other that means they sit on the same locus, on which there's only 2 spots for those genes. For example in the BEL complex, all the genes are allelic to each other so on that locus you can have 2 of any combo of the genes in that complex like mojo and mojo or mojo and lesser but you can't have another gene from that complex cuz there no where for it to sit, it lost in musical chairs basically lol. I hope that made made at least half sense. Hopefully someone else can come in and explain more. If no one does and the link below confuses you, you can pm me and I'll try to explain more cuz I understand it pretty thoroughly.:D

The basic genetics lesson on here helped me a lot, I didn't understand til I read it a couple times. http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showthread.php?t=52847

LOVE that combo! Shooting for that with my vanilla mojave boy and my firefly girl, she gets up to size/weight in the next year or two. I agree with what has been state, there is a lot of untapped potential with the vanilla gene as far as combos. I liken it to the fire and yellowbelly animals as far as how it interplays with other genes; tends to lighten and "clean" them up from the few combos I've seen. Aaaaaand PhotoBucket is down or I'd post some shots of my vanilla mojave boy. Anyway, if she's anything decent (to the OP), jump on it!

Just a novice question. Is there a way to tell the difference between a vanilla from a normal. Other than the blushing on the head. To me the pattern isn't that different. And they look normalish...
