    The Sunset journey
Just thought I'd share with you guy the journey the Sunset project has taken me on. A look into the ups and downs that a project like this can be like. Hope you'll enjoy the read and share with others. I would love to know your opinions.. Thanks so much! Brian(BHB)

You must've expected it to be recessive when it didn't prove dominant. Look at it, it's not like a vague calico. It's insane. Great job anyways

Awesome story and awesome bit of writing. Cutting that first egg must have been like winning the lottery. This miss on the Viper probably made it all that much sweeter!

    The sunset... SO SMOKING! WOW!

The combinations on that are going to be very wicked. I'm especially eager to see what that looks like with some darker morphs. If that deep orange/red color patterns itself with dark colors instead of 'mixing'... MAN! Can you say Diablo ball python?

That is one gorgeous animal Brian! What an amazing story! A big congrats on proving him out finally! I'd love to get my hands on a Sunset eventually...I always seem to add more morphs to the list of "wanted". But that color is fantastic! Wow! :O:gj:

I know you would have thought I would have thought that? But I guess with just going through it with the Viper ball, I really never expected it to be recessive. Now I think I was an idiot of course... Thanks! Brian(BHB)

Thanks for sharing that great story and congrats on one of the most beautiful morphs I have ever seen. What a future you have with this animal and all the forth coming combos. Can't wait for chapter 2 to see what happens next

Well in the end low expectations are probably the better way to go. Like you said on a snakebytestv episode, you usually fall short of that lol. Amazing! My dad doesn't want me to get more snakes though. I only have 11. :taz:

Feel bad for the male, grows up quick, gives you a few clutches first year, does everything right and no faith in him.... poor guy. Lol

Good to see it proved out though, Im actually more interested in what selective breeding will bring, can we get a real red ball python? Maybe....

What does the viper ball look like anyways? Well actually it's a normal; but, got any pics?

Wow while I read your artical I found myself in total despair for you even though I knew there was a happy ending. I am so glad it worked out for you, but I must say 70,000$ I sure as hell would have put him to the hets no matter what, no seriously no matter what, and right away to! However despair works in weird ways and so do snakes. Congrats and in 30 years when the price comes down I'll grab one, they are beautiful.

What an amazing and painful journey for you.

I am very glad it proved genetic, even it if was several years late. I too am very excited to see how it combines with other morphs. And as much as I hate to admit it, I believe you just made be go back on my vow to never do more than one recessive project. Pieds are my passion, and well..... now I just HAVE to know what a Sunset pied will look like. And if it looks like I suspect it will, add me to the list for hets as they become available.

Thanks to everyone that is as excited as I am about this project. I feel very blessed to have it all workout. Now it's the long road of playing with all the cool paint jobs that we can think of. I'm sure there will be some exciting yet nerve racking moments in the incubator over the next several years:) Thanks for coming on the journey with me! Brian(BHB)

Lol, I love the look of the sunset and I have no doubt you will have a long list of buyers when you decide to release them. When they come down in price or I get rich I will give you a call for a pair of hets!

Does it come with mites and kinks as well?

Where were you when people reported mites on snakes you sold? Or how about that poor pewter with kinks? Funny how that works...Uh?

Okay, I bet all the pattern morph combos will be great? But what I want to see? Is a sunset hypo. Sunset champagne! Sunset pastel/enchi/fire/vanilla/lesser/orange dream. ALL OF THE ABOVE AT ONCE.

I've come out of hiding to say this this morph is hands down my favorite BP pattern since, well, anything. I lie awake at night thinking of what combos would look like. And that one day, maybe, just maybe, i'll be able to see it in person. Congrats.

I looked at that picture of the Sunset on TheReptileReport probably 5 times and ONLY SAW A BOA. I thought, hmmm, I need to read that story about Brian and his Sunset boa.

CAUSE NO BALL PYTHON LOOKS LIKE THAT!

I finally got to read the blog, see the pics, shake my eyeballs into focus, and realize that it was a BALL PYTHON. I don't remember that ever happening.

Congrats Brian, that is just an outstanding visual animal, I hope the journey is well worth it!
