Help!

I let my little sister hold one of my bps while on the recliner, I took my eye of her of her for literally 10 seconds and stuck his head in between one of the little bars that let the foot part raise and close.

Now he's stuck and I can't get him out, I don't think he can get out either.
I'd rip the chair apart if I could but I don't have the tools or strength to do that.

If I put butter or oil on him, will it hurt him?
He's not super tight in there, but when I let go of him he doesn't move to try to get himself out.

Okay, I managed to get everything but the tail out, but he has it wrapped in a way where I can't budge it without hurting him.

Take it slow and don't panic. Try to get yourself the best visibility. If you think it will help than put something on him and slowly try to work him out. I've gotten a few out of sticky situations. Just be patient and keep calm.

Chairs and couches seem to eat snakes. After this happened to me I always make sure that I place a large blanket over the whole recliner. That way if they slither farther than I thought, or if I get distracted than the can't get into those cushions.

I would try a very small amount of vegetable oil... and I stress small.

how long has he been stuck?

Have you given hime a chance to try to get out himself?

It's amazing the trouble they can get themselves in...

Only a few minutes, less than 10, but I'm panicing because my sister almost closed the recliner foot thingy and if she would have it would have crushed him

I'm just scared because he was my first snake, and I'd be crushed if something happened to him especially it being my fault.
His stomach is against this coil spring thingy that has a sharp tip and I'm afraid he'll get cut.

I'm trying to reach my hand in there to put a cap eraser on the tip but I can't reach

I'm not 100% sure where in the assembly he is stuck in. Does the spacing between the the bars change when the footrest is moved? if so is there any way that you could carefully/slowly move the footrest to make the gab slightly larger?

Like I said. Just keep calm and slowly work at him. He'll eventually let go. I swear they go looking for ways to give us heart attacks!

He's trying to move but the spring is digging into his skin which causing him to back up back to where he was.
I can't push him backwards very much, should I still just try to let him work his way out?

edit: he's out, but he's got a small shallow cut near his vent.

The most important thing is to keep his cage as clean as possible to reduce the risk of infection/getting debris in the cut

soaking the cut in a diluted betadine solution will disinfect the wound. (betadine can be purchased over the counter at any drug store)

Do not use any creams like Neosporin as they can actually damage the scales.

How small? Is it bleeding? If its just a small cut then I would lightly wash it with water and put a small (SMALL) dab of neosporin on it. Then put him to bed and leave him be. Thats a full day for quiet BPs!

I've always been told that neosporin was ok. Is there something else we can use?

I have some epsom salt, would that work?

he was bleeding when he first came out, but it was only a small amount and it stopped within a minute or so.
as for the neosporin, I've always used it for my mammals but I'm glad I didn't decide to jump the gun and use it on him.

I wouldn't be too worried about aspen, but paper towels are best, just make sure that your temps/humidity are spot on. You don't need anything adding stress while he is healing.

I honestly don't know if epsom salt is safe or not. I doubt that this cut is serious enough to truly need anything applied... I wouldn't try the salt unless somebody else chimes in and says that it is safe.

(I'm going to see if I can find any info on if it is safe or not)

Alright, like I said, it's not very deep, but it's scary to look at.
I've been told that snakes have a hard time healing wounds, but I'm not sure considering the only time I've had to take one of my BPs to the vet was for an egg bound female about 2 seasons ago.

It's only deep enough to make him bleed.
