Curious about my Apoks genetics...

:? I have been curious as to what kind of genetics my big male Apok has...he is rather different looking than the average BP...a sort of different pattern to the blotches on his body and his head is rather angular and wedgelike with light golden eyes...and he is rather hot tempered and touchy...I do not know too much about all this morph business but I was wondering if he might be a different bloodline than a regular Ball?? I am very proud of him and hopefully if I can wrangle a digicam out of my parents for my birthday I will be able to post pics of him along with my other pythons....

The angular head may have more to do with his personality. Angry snakes tend to flatten themselves out and make their head look more viper like. Notice if he looks the same some time when he doesn't know you are around.

Thats a sweet jungle Randy. Someone on this site had a normal, but after seeing the pattern and head spot I figure it's probly a jungle. I'll try and find a pic.

Not so great as far as jungles go, but it does have some things in common with em.

I don't think anyone has been able to reproduce a complete classic jungle so far. Some claim to have reproduced animals with some of the classic jungle characteristics like an intricate pattern.

Is the animal in the picture a known or possible het clown? I really wouldn't call it a classic jungle but it does have the reduced pattern black back with high on the back alien eyes that almost looks like a clown to me.

I dunno, Emroul is the owner. Maybe she'll tell us. Last I knew it was just a normal to her.

I was thinking the same thing, Randy...that the tail-half of the animal looks downright clownish. But it's probably just a really cool random pattern of a normal. I've never seen a het-clown that actually looked like a clown. (But then again...It's not like I've seen every het-clown that's out there! :shock: But I'm trying! )

Not sure how common this is but maybe some het clowns look a little clownish.

Now that I look at it, that really is more similiar to a clown. Possibly just an imitation clown? Or maybe a new line, codom? Hmm

Maybe it's an "almost clown" morph--a "lown"? or would it be a "clow"?

I have noticed some of my BP's have heads that are more rounded than others. One really struck me as different, as it really isn't angular at all. I'll try to get some pics to show the differences. I know exactly what you are talking about. I haven't noticed any corresponding personality traits, though.

I'm suspecting that several pattern mutations don't fall neatly into their "recessive" label and sometimes produce visible hets (like co-dominants) and sometimes produce perfectly normal looking hets just to keep us confused.

I guess I'm getting off subject for this thread as I don't think all classic jungles are het for anything, just would be interesting to see if this reduced pattern with high alien eye and bright color thing is a reliable indicator when seen in possible het clowns.

My classic jungle has a very odd head. It's not completely symmetrical, sort of has a twist off to one side a little. He also has a bend down to his snout. Very odd, I'll try to get a good pic some day to show it. In his case all his oddness may just be due to a rough incubation.
