Its really cool... i was just wondering if he is just checking stuff out or what??
-
One of mine does that all the time, especially if I just walk in the room for the first time in a couple of hours; or if I turn the room light on or off. The first few minutes I'm in there, he'll just arch his head up, and stare. It's really cool. I think he's just curious, but I couldn't see them doing that in the wild. Who knows...It's really cute IMO though.

This sounds ridiculous but I think my Ball Pythons KNOW when I am bringing in food for them.As soon as I get home from the pet store with my feeder mice and walk thru the bedroom door they all become very aware and interested in my presence....they have a look on their faces (again, I know this cannot be but it sure seems like it ) that shows that they know they are about to be fed.
Maybe I spend too much time with my snakes and I am losing my mind perhaps.

You mean like this?? :) Eleanor does it when I clean my room or rearrange her tank. I think they just like to check things out. I think it's adorable!

I think they may sense new smells or air fumes, or something like that, but whatever it is, it's SOOO cute! :)
That picture is great, Lindsay. :)

yup, thats it... it looks like there just trying to get a better view of everything. I think its awsome...

I think it's the snake equivalent of us standing on our tippie-toes to get a better view of things...
What I find really funny is when Phil stretches waaaaaaaay up to check out the top of his enclosure, and gets too top heavy and flops over.

Vigo does this too!! Especially when I'm handling him, he slides all around and stops now and then to take it all in. It's sooo neat.

Yep, it's called periscoping - they do it to check out their surroundings. Even the uppity ones do it ;) . Here's a pic a friend of mine took in Daytona last year:

Bongo used to do it when swallowing mice, it was hillarious to see him lift his bloated neck in the air and start swaying and shaking. Maby he was trying to use gravity to help get it down
