INSANELY busy!!!!! Between breeding season, the new facility going full-tilt, our Timber rattlesnake project, building 2 new websites & the daily ins & outs here, I've been slammed to say THE LEAST!

Hopefully I'll find more time to pop in going forward!

Sooooo pretty! Those are some gorgeous animals, I've always thought bloods were very pretty :)

I never noticed that you live in NH, ever been to NERD's store? Or know anything about when the new one is opening? Actually I think it's just a huge store stocked with animals from NERD... but I don't know, last time I was there it was still under construction.

It's ok Lindsay!!! :) :) We're hoping to have the pet store (Zoo Creatures) back open by early summer, so keep your fingers crossed for us. If you'd like to come up and tour our breeding facility at NERD in the mean time, just drop me a line & let me know when. I'd love to show you all the cool stuff we have going on! Granted, everything is kind of "quiet" now snake-wise since everything's breeding, but there's still plenty of fun stuff to see.

Just send me an email - kara@newenglandreptile.com

Those are some AWESOME Bloods, K! I wish I wasn't all the way on the other side of the country :(, or I'd stop by and see the place, and all the cool stuff you guys have cookin'. What are the two new websites going to be based on?

Thanks for the pics, and MORE are always welcome! :D

Love that female in the first two pics! She is absolutely gorgeous!
What kind of bedding do you keep them on? I don't think I've seen anything that looks quite like that before.

    Randy,

Actually I typically use paper towels (preferred) or newspaper as a substrate for my baby bloods & then move them to cypress mulch when they grow up a bit. What you see in some of those pictures is actually A-grade long fiber Chilean sphagnum moss, which is soooo soft & insanely cushy & unlike the "standard" grade of sphagnum you typically find. Whenever I have a particularly delicate baby - i.e. a very shy or non-feeder, I give them a very thick substrate of this moss so they can burrow down in it & hide at all times if they so desire. It seems to help them feel more secure and has made it easier for me to turn snakes like this back "on" in the past. I also use this moss for all of my nest boxes - seriously if you were a snake, you'd WANT to lay eggs in this stuff! - and was setting up nests on the day I decided to take photos of some of these snakes, so I grabbed some to use as a backdrop.

All those bloods are amazing. I'd laugh my butt off if you managed to produce a lucy, with blue eyes and a blue tint. Then you called it a crip python!

    Hahahaha...sorry. That was lame.
