How are you guys handling the heatwave?
I'm not sure if it is hitting you, but right now it is 105 degrees and my air conditioning just went out . My whole house is at 87 degrees and rising.

I've been soaking and fanning like crazy. Plus I have four ball pythons cooling off on my bed lol.

It's supposedly 95F outside right now, and it's 77F in here...with a whole house AC and Window AC on. It's not expected to get any better any time soon...only worse.

Born and raised in the south so the heat and humidity is a part of life for me.

I've only been out of Nebraska for a couple years, where it was regularly over 100 in the summer... but that two years in the Pacific Northwest (about an hour south of Seattle) has shown that I adapt rather well to my environment. Haha. The high for today was 63, and I was too warm out in my car with the windows down (and then too cold minutes later when it rained for 10 minutes). The high for the next 10 day forecast looks like it will be 86... and that's a rarity. I know that it's still 15-20 degrees less than was I was used to for 8 years in Nebraska... but I will be dying. Will be perfect for the snakes though :)

Jealous!! We need the rain here in KC. It's not even that cool in my HOUSE right now!! It's hell on my electric bill and I only keep the thermostat set to 75. It's 79 degrees in my house, 96 outside and not a shade tree in my whole neighborhood. These houses get HOT in the afternoon!

I grew up in Missouri so this heat is nothing up here. The temps got to 95 the other day and they issued a heat advisory... Now that it's nearing 100 out, people are panicking. The house has to been kept around 74-75 anyways because we have chinchillas and they can overheat. The raccoon kits are getting a bit warm since we have them acclimating to outside temps. They've been panting a lot more during playtime and sucking down water like crazy. Personally, the reptiles and I think it's wonderful! My husband, however, is acting like he's dying on the couch. ;)

I've self-medicated with frequent and judicious applications of salt, lime and Patron, lol! I'm a little peeved since I have three snakes I'm waiting to receive but all things considered, I'm doing fine. We replaced our air conditioner/heater earlier this year and while that really sucked as far as the initial price tag, it's helped with our electric bill and has certainly come in handy with the recent temps in the Midwest where I live.

The heat in arkansas reached about 105 the other day in conway. Its terrible.. this week is sort of cooler, the highs are around 100 all week. And of course we have had no rain in months, we cant even light fireworks for the 4th of july do to the risk of fire. If you are caught burning anything its a 500-1000 dollar fine.

That sucks. They cancelled all the fireworks shows around here due to an emergency burn ban in place...and yet the idiots KEEP! watering their yards in spite of the drought conditions and there being water usage restrictions in place! Makes perfect sense to me: green grass while the neighbors house burns down due to low water pressure when the fire trucks come! Ridiculous. Where I live, it's a criminal offense resulting in jail time if they set off fireworks with the burn ban in place.
