Can Anyone Recommend A New Anime?
I just got through watching Kaze No Stigma and I thought it was was great but seemed incomplete. I guess that's cause the author died.
Anyways, I can't find a decent new anime to watch. Here are my favorites:
DragonballZ
Inuyasha
Gundam Wing
Yu Yu Hakusho
Tenchi
Rouroni Kenshin
These are ones I don't like:
FLCL
Naruto
Anything Card Game Related (Pokemon, etc)
If you know something I might like let me know.
Thanks.

Second, based off of that, the ones I've seen that are similar:
Shakugan no Shana
Darker than Black
Kaichou wa Maid-sama!
Bleach
Zero no Tsukaima
Full Metal Panic!
Fate/Zero
Thirdly, ones I would recommend to anyone (Rated very highly!):
5 Centimeters per Second
Angel Beats!
Clannad
Code Geass
Ghost in the Shell
Hoshi wo Ou Kodomo
Cowboy Bebop
Ano Hi Mita Hana no Namae wo Bokutachi wa Mada Shiranai
Hotarubi no Mori e
Kara no Kyoukai (All of them!)
Bolded means I strongly recommended!
If you want any more info on any anime, feel free to contact me, I've seen of 600+!
Hope you enjoy them!

I am watch ghost in the shell atm, highly recommended! Full metal alchemist is awesome too. And for some movies, if you haven't seen princess mononoke or the vampire Hunter d series check those out.
-
Ghost in the shell or samurai champloo
-
Eureka 7 is my favorite. Followed by love hina and naruto.l (the original).
If you want want to try something really weird I recommend puella magi madoka magicka. Very strange but great!
Also a good 18+ anime is elfen lied.. Gorey and graphic but also really good!
I've seen a lot of anime.
I nearly forgot to mention my all time favorite goofy anime.. get ready for it.
Jungle wa itsumo hale nochi guu
Its so hilarious and bizzare!

I don't know if these fit your tastes exactly, but I'd recommend:
Hellsing Ultimate
Bleach
Elfen Lied (The manga is better.)
and maybe Neon Genesis Evangelion. It's really not for everyone though.
-
My favourite, by far, is Mushishi!! It's on Netflix, so awesome
-
I just finished up
Trigun (loved this as a kid)
Black Blood Brothers
Both are on Netflix and pretty good and these are the only 2 that have not already been mentioned.

I've seen Trigun as well. The ending sucked but overall I loved that show.
If you know of any good anime movies I'll take those to.
Vampire Hunter D is my all-time favorite anime movie.
-
So. I definitely am not familiar with Anime, but my absolute favorite show for a while was Zoids. I even watched it last year, and while a little repetitive was just a nice blast from the past.
-
I haven't watched Anime in a couple of years - however, a few of my favorites are:
Cowboy Bebop (Which I would recommend to literally everybody)
Gundam 0080 (All time favorite of all the Gundam stories, makes me teary eyed!)
Gundam 0083
Death Note
Evangelion
Gurren Lagann
Full Metal Alchemist
Also, if you liked Kenshin - have you seen the Samurai X movie/ova/thing haha? It is what lead me to Kenshin.

Re: Can Anyone Recommend A New Anime?
X2 on Full Metal Alchemist, my favorite anime of all time. I like the really dark twisted stuff :)

Absolutely Samurai Champloo.
If you want a horror mystery (really morbid, but very good also), watch Higurashi no naku koro ni. In English, its something like "when the cicadas sing" or "cry".
both are a "mini series"
-
Re: Can Anyone Recommend A New Anime?
To add on to Higurashi no Naku Koro ni, if you want a 'mature' feel (No ecchi, just more developed drawings) Umineko no Naku Koro ni is basically an alternative setting. Although, HnNK's storyline was better. Oh and HnNK's basically a trilogy.
-
Seems people have given you quite a bit of good stuff as far as series go so I'll recommend some movies I've watched and enjoyed(some more than others but all worth watching if you're into anime imo):
Ninja Scroll
Princesss Mononoke
Spirited Away
Ghost in the Shell
AKIRA

OP, we differ bigtime on Vampire Hunter D. I did not enjoy that one at all. That said, anybody who likes Rurouni Kenshin must have some taste. :) As someone else said earlier, the Kenshin OAV/OVA/whtever those are called are really good. They're done in a different art style than the main series, and with a more serious, darker tone, and I think it works very well.
As others have mentioned, you really can't go wrong with Cowboy Bebop, though I wouldn't say it's "recommended for everyone," as it's really pretty bloody in places, and therefore not exactly kid-appropriate.
If you're just looking for something silly and fun, Ranma 1/2 is always good for a laugh.
Neon Genesis Evangelion is something you'll either love or hate. If you can't put up with an EXTREMELY whiny teenage main character, don't bother, but if you can, there's a pretty good story in there. Again, too bloody to be kid-appropriate, so if you've got children, don't watch it with them.
If you're up for something so sugary cute that it should be annoying, but somehow manages not to be, Ah My Goddess is pretty entertaining. That's about all I have to contribute to the thread at this time - it's been quite a while since I watched anime on a regular basis. If I think of more later, I'll let you know.
-
wrong question for me to answer.....ghost in the shell, cowboy bebop, kekiashi?, love hina, deathnote, bleach, full mteal alchemist!,....ill add more later once they come to me

I've seen all the OVAs for Kenshin. I also know there's a live action movie coming out soon. The trailer looks amazing so I hope it gets to the states soon.
I've seen some of Ranma 1/2. I'd love to watch it more but I can only find it on youtube it bootleg quality. Netflix mostly sucks in the Anime department. I am not about to $40 or more just for one season either.
I did see some of Evangelion. I just got lost.
I recently watched a bit of Blue Gender. I have no idea WTH is going on but I've been told to keep watching as it will all make sense.
Cowboy Bebop I saw a long time ago. It felt like Firefly x Alien. I thought it was too short though.
I tried to watch Initial D as someone suggested. Just not my thing.
I just remembered some older stuff I forgot about that I liked.
Tank Police and anything with Ako, Bko, or Cko in the title. It was usually Ako vs Bko: Bla bla bla." Funny as crap!
Also, Lensman and I think it was called 8man.

Claymore
Samurai 7

Katekyo Hitman Reborn
Getbackers

-
A good movie that hasn't been mentioned Grave of the Fireflies.

Macross
Eatman
The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya
A lot of other stuff people have mentioned already.

Cyborg 009 (I haven't watched the older version (main character has blonde hair) but I liked the remake)
Sorcerous Stabber Orphan
Guyver
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles (this one is kind of so-so in my opinion, though)

Kiba
This Ugly Yet Beautiful World (short at only 13 episodes)

Wolfs Rain (One of my first animes, and I still love it)
Tsubasa Reservoir Chronicles
Code Geass

Fate/stay night
Death Note
Hell Girl
Tsuabasa Chronicles: Tokyo revelations (OVA)
Soul Eater (Awesome as well!)
Thats alot, but hey I love anime and had watched them all (but Fairy Tail is still being produced and DGM is questionable). I even named my corn snake from a character in one of these seried (:
-
My faves are:
Ghost in the Shell
Full Metal Alchemist
Chobits
Evangelion
Wolf's Rain
and last but not least...
Death Note. <---- love, love this one.
-
I'm going to add my vote for Death Note (specifically the first season) and Wolf's Rain! Wolf's rain is abstract, but very, very good with amazing art. And wolves, of course!
Also, if you REALLY want to consider it Anime (which it's not, but similar style) Avatar: The Last Airbender is a great one. The first season is directed more for kids but after that it gets great. There is a new series called Avatar: The Legend of Korra that had just finished its first season.
-
Re: Can Anyone Recommend A New Anime?
EE! Yes, I def reccommend DeathNote, and Wolf's rain, really great. be warned, wolf's rain is albiet depressing.
There are a few others.. but I dunno if any of you guys appeiciate yaoi stuff..lol:P
Oh yeah.. and soul eater too:D

One Piece
Fairy Tail
Bleach
Naruto

Re: Can Anyone Recommend A New Anime?
Pretty much everything I'd suggest has already been mentioned.
But for the record the Pokemon anime is like the video game and not the card game. Cards aren't involved at all. :)
-
Already been suggested, but here's a nice SHORT list of ones I have greatly enjoyed.
Afro Samurai
Cowboy Bebop (my absolute favorite of all time)
Samurai Champloo

Update
I have watched so much anime in the last few months it's nuts!
What I hate though is that most modern anime is only like 12-24 episodes long! And most of them have open endings or don't even really end. They just stop. Are there any modern Inuyahsa, Ranma, or DBZ length shows?
Let's see if I can remember all I've seen.
Kampher - Kinda like Ranma but not. Lots of cliche stuff and things that don't make sense. Yet I wish they'd make more of it. Kind of a guilty pleasure.
Baka and Test - This is my absolute guilty pleasure. I really shouldn't like it. But I love it! Can't wait till someone subs season 3.
Cheeky Angel - Well, I tried. It got old fast. Even though I can see there are about 50 episodes or so. I just couldn't get into it past about 20 episodes.
Otoboku - Of the same vein as Cheeky Angel but shorter and with better story and character development.
Shikabane Hime - Love it! Want more!
Fruits Basket - Growing on me. Seen a few episodes. But not something I can watch in a marathon.
Kaze No Stigma - Enjoyed it. Wish there was more.
Kashimashi - I don't know why I liked it. But I did. It's totally absurd.
Princess Princess - So i started watching it thinking it would be Ranma-esqe. Well it's not. Just don't. Don't go there.
Clannad After Story - OK so I really didn't watch it. My wife watched it and I was just there. It's like the most depressing cartoon ever. It literally made Chanin cry at one point. Not my cup of tea. It was too realistic. I don't mind realistic animation but I like to have at least some element of scifi or fantasy woven in.
Elfen Lied - By far the most graphic anime...ever. From what I understand it was a straight to DVD release in Japan because it couldn't be aired on TV. Full of gratuitous violence and nudity. And topics so dark you can't believe they went there. Still though, it is very good. Gotta be a bit open minded and strong stomached though. My biggest gripe was it didn't know what it wanted to be. It would go from horror fest to slap stick comedy with a snap of them fingers.
Kenichi: The Mightiest Disciple - I understand the manga keeps going past the anime. I hope they'll eventually make more. I loved this show!
To Love RU - I am currently watching this. It is like a mix of various anime in one. I guess you could say it's a Scifi Romantic Comedy.
Honestly, I am kinda surprised at what I ended up actually liking. Especially the ones with pretty much no action in them.
