    Lowering Humidity Help!
Hello everyone, i have an issue. In my self made rack i have one slot bigger than the rest. In this slot i keep a 41 qt tub with a lid and i ofcoursed opened holes. I have the lid because like i said, this slot is bigger than the rest. So my problem is that my humidity does not go lower than 70% at all times! I have opened holes all over and nothing. Im also using repti-bark and i reduced the amount in the tubs but still nothing. Is there anything else i can do to lower my humidity? Im conserned about possible RI that my snakes might get.

Here's a pic to better explain...

Try putting a few holes in the top, I had the same problem on my old rack and put 5 holes above the water bowl and it dropped it down to a constant 52-56.

Do you have a fan pointing at the rack? That should improve your ventilation.

Is it just the large tub, or all of them?

Ofcourse I can't see the rack but if you drill holes in the top won't they just be covered by the floor of the above tub space?

So you do have a fan in the room to move air over the holes?

I do but that doesn't seem to be enough. I just invented a something for the bottom of the tub to help it be closer to the top and so i don't have to use the top. But some how it's still at 61 - 64% -____-

I've been told by several people they or their friends keep their BP at that level. You should be good but I would also get a better fan to help.

Kmg- the holes worked for me because there was .5 in gap between shelves and tub, he said his this tub was bigger so I assumed there was a gab between shelf and tubs.
Try a circulating fan pointed at the rack or try making bigger holes.

How about changing substrate? Paper perhaps?

Yea I figured you did. I just wanted to make sure you and I covered both options for them. No use in putting work into it just to find out you didn't see another small issue.

They are using Repti-bark. I use it for my GTP, its a dry substrate.

What is the RH in the room?

If it is 70% the tub will not get much lower. Remember the water bowl and substrate are the sources of RH in the tub (and the snake too... breath is damp) proper ventilation like what you seem to have a smaller bowl and you should have no problems 70% or not. RI causing bacteria (floria) are helped along not solely by high RH but low ventilation stagnation is a huge issue. It looks like you have enough ventilation.

Ok well i removed some of the substrate and that lowered it to 53 - 55% :) finally!
