what would YOU do for a new snake?!?!
Okay so, by boss at work (I work at a pet store) told me he would buy me a dumerils boa if i ate 5 comet feeder fish! We started off jokingly, then we got serious. Haha the fish are TINY, and we made a confirmed deal that if i did it, he would buy me a dumerils boa. So its like eating 5 tiny fish for around 100 bucks. I know its crazy but I might just do it!!! Haha would you?! Is it even safe?

Blech! Dumi's are gorgeous, and even though I know almost no fish diseases/parasites can infect a human... feeder comets are pretty gross, parasite-ridden little things in most cases. Unless your store has the most amazing feeder fish provider ever, I think that might be further than I'd be willing to go for a $100.

Do it! Ask your boss if we can have the same deal. If so, we will need more fish!

Well, I know this is off the wall, but if I was asked to, I would run around downtown at the Levee, if that's not just a Charleston thing...I would run there naked for any snake...

They don't want any animal in the house. They used to always trick me as a kid by saying they'll get me fish or a turtle if I get good grades, make my bed (I was six btw haha), and some other things. Snakes also scare the living daylights out of them. My dad started making me mow the lawn at age 9 because he was scared of garter snakes haha. Guess I'll have to wait till I get my own place to get some reptiles. Sucks, but, there's no point in getting worked up over something that won't happen. Least I could do is buy all the tubs I'll need in the future before/if they stop producing them.

I feel ya man!! My dad raised king snakes my entire life, then momma made him get rid of them all. Then I had to wait till college and in my own apartment to get any reptiles. And now I have a beardie, a BP, and soon to be a Dumeril's after eating these fish :rofl:

Dont buy tubs bc they change ALL the time. But a nice tstat. (or two lol). Also maybe a big breeder offers gift cards? If you save up X amount of money every month then buy yourself that amount in gift cert towards a breeder so that way when you can get snakes youll be able to afford a nice one!

But don't they change too? I don't want to end up with an outdated version haha. I can't buy things online, so I don't think giftcards would work.... Maybe if I buy a bunch of tubs in bulk, maybe, 45 or so and save those.

Ah, that sucks. I'm pretty sure my mom's hatred of snakes came from her village in India, one of her neighbors died from a King Cobra bite. And my dad's afraid of anything with scales. Living in a city in India for him was hell haha, he had a bunch of different species of geckos running around, including the Leopard, and some very bright green ones. I've been there about five times, and it was like a wonderland! Haha.

I can see how to the uneducated a snake may not seem to be a good pet. Having them though they are some of the cleanest animals you can have. When I get home they are always where I left them, they have not chewed anything, and their shed is very easy to clean. None of which I can say about my bulldog.

So how long till your in your own place to start your Lil zoo?

Even if it was proven to be the cleanest animal on earth, they wouldn't let me keep it, haha.

I'd eat feeder fish for a snake. Although I've also seen the little nasties they carry under a microscope, alive. That was a bit unnerving, but none of it really affects humans.... unless it's a tapeworm :O just sayin'

I know plenty of people who did anyway. As long as you have a friend that will keep them for you for the week of inspections...you're good! lol. Obviously just make sure your roomies won't be bothered by it. Or you could look into off-campus student housing. Most of them will allow aquarium pets. But you have to word it that way. ;) Although, I told both places I've rented at that I had snakes and they said as long as they didn't see it, they didn't care.

Haha, I would do that if I had the guts. Wouldn't want to be risked getting thrown out, parents would slaughter me. ._.

I can probably get one when I'm a junior in college, when I'm living off campus though.

As someone who swallowed a live goldfish every year for four years as part of an undergraduate St Patrick's day tradition ... I can promise you it won't hurt you. It is, however, one of the nastiest things I've ever done in my life and every year I swore I'd never do it again. Getting multiple fish down at once will prove difficult, because after the first one goes down, you might be fighting the urge to vomit. The best tip I can give you is to put them in alcohol before you down them. Pop the fish in a glass with the cider/beer and drink them down. Don't attempt to chew them ... just don't.

It's totally doable! I wasn't allowed any pets whatsoever in my room and I kept a crested gecko that I took home with me (including his entire enclosure) whenever I went home on weekends. I just threw a towel it and walked right passed the front desk :D

This is what we do with little beach crabs whenever we're staying out at our cabin, fish should go down easier :D

I've eaten pretty much every kind of bug around here (except for beetles, they always have a nasty after taste) just on a dare or for small amounts of money. Doesn't hurt any and I'd absolutely do nuttier stuff for a snake!

I've actually eaten live goldfish before. I didn't get anything for it either, it was a "I'll do it if you do." It was much less unpleasant than when another friend and I did the same with quarter sized globs of real wasabi.

Did you chew it up? Idk if id eat a pinky mouse... Itd have to be a REALLY sweet ball python.

At the last expo i gave a kid $5 to eat a big handful of mealworms. The crunching noise from him chewing them up was sooo nasty. Best $5 ive ever spent at an expo haha

EDIT: this whole thread reminds me of the "What would you do for a Klondike Bar?" commercial lol

Omg, that's nasty. I can't stand those icky little worms. Hubby has to fish them out of the container. Creeps me out the way they curl around you finger. *goosebumps* ick.
