SnakeKeeper App

Does anyone use this? I found it on the iTunes store. It's free but if you want to have more then one snakes records its only 1.99.(total, not per snake) I just got it and so far it seems pretty nice. I have 6 snakes and have a Mac so my options are using a spreadsheet or just pen and paper...which I always wind up misplacing or spilling something on. Haha. This seems like it would be much easier. No options for breeding but I think they are planning on updating it so it has breeding options.

Is it called PetPal? I have that app and it's pretty great. I use it to record feedings, weight, etc. And you can make notes and put a picture of each animal on their records as well as their name and gender. It's helped a LOT since I've had it as I always have my phone and can record the info right away. You can even add different types of prey items and stuff, as well as a graph mapping growth over time. Very useful. :gj: Especially for the price.

Wow... I think I like the one you are talking about better. There are a lot more options. I'm going to buy it and compare them.

Let me know which one you like better Satana. I have a crapload of itunes giftcard money that i NEVER use lol. THis app definetly sounds like something cool that i could use, especially for the graph thing. That sounds cool!

petpal is what i use as well. its pretty awesome!

It's fantastic. It even has it's own calendar that will show me which snakes fed when by name. ;) So when I go buy food, I just whip out my phone and see who needs what on which day. :gj: I even have my cat and gecko in there. It's not just for reptiles...though it caters more to them.

Is it for iphone?

DOnt tell me its just an andriod app...

I will go and jailbreak my iphone right now if thats what i have to do to get it!:rolleye2:

i have it on the iPhone and I think that it is an iPhone Only app right now. The person is working on the droid version now i think. The person who wrote it is a member of this forum if I recall and had a post about it a few months ago.

No no. It's an iPhone app. ;) Thus iTunes. lol. I was really glad when they came out with it too because I believe there was one for Android first.

Only thing i wish it did... sync between IOS devices. I wish i had the data on my phone also on my iPad and/or and export to MS doc feature as well.

That would be the true golden ticket if it had all of that as well. but its an earlier version. i would think at somepoint it is on the road map to be added. at least the sync anyway.

That would be awesome. :O I rely pretty heavily on my iPhone though, so it works. It would definitely be nice if you could just sync to iTunes and then put it on a new device with all your info there though. For sure. Maybe comment about that in the ratings? Maybe they haven't thought of it.

Ok after spending the past few hours on both apps I think I'm keeping both lol. If pet pal had the option to email the records I would be 100% sold. That is really the only feature on SnakeKeepers that I love. I like to know that if my phone junks out on me I haven't lost everything. I can just email the charts every month to myself and keep them in a folder for later reference.

I also really like how SnakeKeeper has a statistics tab. It has an area for feeding, shedding (average shed and days since last shed) Its not something I'd have to have but it's cool.

I'm going to keep both around just until pet pal makes it possible to email your records (I am going to email them and ask if it's possible to do)

$5 for both apps is no big deal for me, just some extra work having to put things in twice lol

2) I just wanted to add that I love that crazy little elephant thing in your sig. It always makes me go... o.O;

:D glad u like it, most people yell at me and think I'm some crazy stalker haha. I found it on a site and just copy and pasted it cuz it made me laugh.

I have already emailed asking pet pal if they could make emailing or cloud sync available so lets hope they listen!! It's the only thing the app is lacking.

That looks really cool, maybe I'll also check out the .99 version. The only difference it seems between the .99 and 24.99 versions is that the lite version you can only have 50 actions. If I was a breeder I'd get that in a second cuz there are many breeding options and that is one thing both of the apps we have been talking about lacks.

This app looks GREAT! Can even print tags to use with ipad or iphone on the tubs... Must have!!!! :gj::gj::gj:

"With the upcoming update, the app will support iCloud integration - this way, all of your records will be stored on iCloud and you can share those records between devices. Another feature in the upcoming update is support for printing records from the iPhone.

Even as the app is now, as long as you sync with iTunes, all of your app data is backed up - so there is no need to worry about losing your data (as long as you sync with iTunes).

When the iCloud version comes out, you won't have to worry about syncing at all - it will happen automatically.

It will be interesting to see if they get the icloud running. I love the way reptile scan syncs. I can very quickly scan the tag and see if my partner did anything and what she did.

Holy crap! Each of these apps are amazing, and I am so glad I stumbled upon this topic! I've been using a pad of sticky notes and whatnot to regulate all of Kaa's feedings, along with growth and other aspects...etc.

Just downloaded PetPals and about had a happygasm in class. Now I can monitor my fish and whatnot as well!

Iphones are amazing. And i did own an android, and windows mobile phone. IMO iphone wins. And they say there is an app for everything....lol
