Help Me Choose Next Reptile !!!!
So My House Snake Marduk pretty soon will join hes fellow house snakes in rack and that gonna leave me empty 18x18x18 Exo-Terra terrarium....

And I'll love You guys help me to choose another member of my reptile family...

Those are environmental issues I have and You should take this under consideration.

I live in NYC and summers here can get very hot and very humid... and obviously i don't run AC when I'm at work. ( I was shutting heat on my balls rack last year because of high ambient temps)

On contrary during winters my super sometimes is late with starting heat in my building so i had herpstat in rack running on 115 just to heat up rack to right temp.

I have 11x11 Ultratherm on the bottom of Exo-Terra and can Always put extra lamp on top

Exo-terra's have mesh top and vents on front so keeping very high humidity could be an Issue as well bu that could me avoided with frequent misting...

And have in mind that I don't wanna have high maintenance pet so animals with need various and expansive diet like bearded Dragon for example are not an Option.

So Knowing size of Enclosure and Environment...

    WHAT I SHOULD GET ??

    Thanks in Advance

    Rafal

A leopard gecko? They have a lot of sweet morphs out there.

Or an African Fat Tail? They pretty much same requirements as leos except i think they need a little bit higher humidity.

Yea true. I know some people feed their leos just mealworms though.

What about an Amazon Tree Boa? Im sure that one could live comfortably in that size viv for awhile. I think most people keep adults in 2'x2'x2' cubes.

    Exotic Ectotherms
I've never had one, but I hear Crested Geckos are very easy to care for and would be a good size for your cage.

I would say either a Spotted Python (Antaresia Maculosa), or a Childrens Python (Antaresia Childreni)...

Crested geckos will not tolerate the high heat it is best to keep them in the mid 70's so I would say no on that.

I would look into frogs if you haven't already.

As I said in first post no high maintenance animals :( spending on average 70 $ per month on various diet of veggies and mixed bugs for beardie is little over the top for be...
Beardie are really cool have great personality but they are kind of expansive in maintenance..

You could also probably house a Pacific Tree Boa (Candoia Carinata Carinata) in an enclosure that size. Here is some info on them:

I have a pacman from he is in my snake room which get very warm in the summer too and he is doing just great.

Low maintenance and a cool critter all around.

You do not need the overhead room but you can use that to make a pretty nice terrarium for him.

Also here is a link to some information about them. Your temps might get a bit high.
