    The Serpent Merchant
They are known to be prone to shorting out, and are very difficult to control with a thermostat. They should never be used.

    Don
I've been wondering for a long time why they even make them. I don't know that there is any animal for which a hot rock is well suited. if there is, I wish someone could educate me.

Good for nothing. Best left collecting dust on a petstore shelf.

The fact the snakes are always soaking means something is off.

    Yall crack me up

Heat rocks have been known for burns, and should be left where they are. On the shelf.

Or better yet, in the dumpster.

To put a heat source on the ground in a reptile enclosure and maintain the same safety standards compared to flexwatt outside the cage, it would have to be completely waterproof (not water resistant) I should be able to put it under water, snakes get things wet. The cord leaving it should be heavy duty, can't have conductor exposed obviously, then you need a thermostat with a temperature probe to be on the heat rock itself, secured in a way the snake isn't going to move it, also making sure the cord on it will not be compromised in anyway. So now your at near the same "safeness" as flexwatt outside of the tub of a typical setup and now the snake has heating spot the size of the heat rock., instead of one wall or part of the floor.

Even after all that outside the tub is safer and more ideal.

I know what pet store your talking about, the people that work there dont care about anything but money, look in the cage and you will see ants and mites  and they are all so rude in there too.

So trying to safely use a heat rock for any animal is kind of like trying to pick up a turd from the clean end.
