Which Morph is the Best Morph?
There was a good thread that was started about how much money it would take to get started in the business of BP breeding. I have enjoyed the thread very much and think it has been very informative. I wanted to start a new thread in a slightly different direction.

I have kept snakes all my life, usually just one or two, and have always wanted to do a small breeding project. I am moving in the near future to a place that I can house a small collection and will have that opportunity.
I am looking at this venture as purely a hobby at this point. But, I would like to sell the babies when they are produced and use that income offset the cost of the hobby and and continue to grow my collection.

So, my question is which morph/morphs would you look into to start with? I don't mean which do people think are the prettiest, but which seem to be the most popular and sell the best. Lets say you have 1500-2000 to spend 3 females and 1 male, where would you spend it if you wanted to maximize the chances of selling their future offspring? What would you do?

NOTE: I know there are many other expenses involved in keeping and raising snakes. For purposes of this question the 1500-2000 amount would only be for purchase of snakes. :)

If your looking to move snakes, from what I see "white" snakes seem to move fast. So Bels, ivorys those are always fan favorites.

If you're breeding as a hobby, and you breed snakes that you enjoy having in your collection, that will always be the best morph.

I would say Pieds, I can't produce enough of them.

Yeah, I've seen that trend too. I've thought about buying 3 female mojaves and 1 male and trying to get some super mojaves, or 3 het piebald females and a male piebald.

I've always personally been more attracted to the lighter colored morphs. But, I love BP so much that to start out with I'm just more concerned about trying to move the hatchlings fast.

Which morph is the best morph, is all a matter of opinion.

You really need to be more concerned about how you'll handle the animals you produce that don't move at all.

Just like your quite at the bottom of your post says "Never met a Ball Python I didn't like." I feel the same way. All babies that can not be sold will be given proper care for as long as they are in my collection. Eventually I want to have a diverse collection. I thought that starting with morphs that are popular sellers and investing that money back into my collection would help me achieve that the quickest.

Thank you everyone for your replies.

Cinnamons and cinnamon combos are the best morphs. :gj:

Cinnapins, Hypo Cinni's, Super Cinni's, Firemons, Lesser Cinni's etc... Theyre all the best, better than any of the other combos.

Hey you cant expect him to ask a question like that and for me not to answer honestly. IMHO cinnamon combos are the bees knees! lol
Just like RobNJ with his hypos!

Once i do start breeding i plan on selectively breeding for the nicest looking cinnies. I wanna produce really dark brown/ black supers. Then breed that dark super male to multiple female cinnis that are the best examples of the morph imo. So that way im only producing cinnis and super cinnis ONLY! This will be like my little side project lol;)

If i do end up having enough success to claim my own line then they shall be dubbed the Cinnabon Cinnamons! (with name credit going to you) :gj:

If thats what you want i would suggest maybe mixing it up and getting a combination of butters, lessers and mojaves (1 or 2 of each?) as any combo of these will produce blue eyed lucys as their super. Thatll add some diversity to your collection

The best morph is the one you like the most.

Three females and a male? In order to produce some nice looking snakes that are easily salable for little initial money, I'd probably go with a female super pastel, female Mojave, and female spider or pinstripe (whichever you prefer, I'd go with pinstripe due to the spider wobble) and pair them all up with a male lesser. You should produce very few normals, some nice animals for sale and a few very nice animals that you could hold back in case you want to expand in the future. But of course before getting the snakes, get a nice rack first.

Wow now there's an opinion I can disagree with

Yellowbelly's will remain the best base morph for years to come!!

Cinny's make a few nice combo's, but Yellowbelly's make EVERYTHING better

    This is my suggestion

    1.0 Orange Ghost
    0.1 Mojave het hypo
    0.1 Cinnamon hey hypo
    0.1 Spider het hypo
    0.1 Pinstripe het hypo

You cant go wrong with hypo it makes everything better!

Also I know there are 4 females but I think this would fit a 2000 budget if you dont mind adding one more girl.

Thanks do the suggestions. Would I not need an orange ghost that is get hypo in addition to the rest of the females if unwanted babies to show the hypo trait? The "hypo" thing in general kind of confuses me.

het hypo means het ghost or het orange ghost. Those 2 are also compatible so ghost to orange ghost will still throw hypos.

Piebalds, but you would need more money than that to pick up a male and 3 het pied adults.

In the price range you listed--go with Enchi, or, if you can, an Enchi combo. Enchi is definitely hot right now, and will be for some time to come, since it makes amazing combos.

I assumed you wanted to pick up adult females, since you were looking at what's popular right now.
