    Everybody wake up!!!
Guess who just got back today?
That wild-eyed boy that had been away
Hasn't changed, hasn't much to say
But man, I still think that cat is crazy!

    Alice is HOME!

    :banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:

He is filthy, skinny, there's some kind of sticky goop on his back that won't wash off and he's seriously ticked about being shoved into a tub because Ozzy got his old house but my boy is BACK!

I was sitting in the bathroom doing my nails when I heard a thumping commotion from the hole where the mice go in and out and I looked up and thought "Great. That stupid cotton rat is back." when out tumbled Alice with a squirming field mouse in his mouth.

I grabbed what I could of him but he dropped his dinner, started backing up into the wall and I started ripping out dry wall and 100 year old oak lathe with my bare hands...but he slipped away.

I went out to the shop, crushed and told hubby, who immediately started devising a Rube Goldberg "trap" to snag Alice if he ever returned to that spot, after I nearly pulled him in two.

Whilst cutting a hole in the old tub we were going to use as a bait box, the plastic cracked and I had to go back upstairs for another tub.

As I came out of the back room with the new tub, I thought to myself "Naaaah...he couldn't be that stupid, could he?"

I slipped into the bathroom, peeked behind the door where the hole is and there he was, sniffing around for his dropped mouse.

I got a better hold that time and wrestled his evil self out and ran to the shop, with him in my hand like the freaking Olympic torch.

I'm not ashamed to say I sat in the shop, alternately crying and making dire threats upon his life and I was shaking so badly I couldn't stand up.

But then, he crawled up my chest like he always does, and hugged me around the neck.

    I went all stupid-eyed.

    Then he got a bath.

The sticky mystery goop is still on him but his belly is pink and I'm hoping he'll shed *whatever* it is off.

God bless each and every one of you who have held my hand, dried my tears, soothed my fears and prayed for us both.

BP people are the best people in the world. :gj:

    I owe you all BIG.

    Shari

[I'm going to sleep for a week, now...*AFTER* I build "Alice-Catraz" tomorrow]

Didn't I tell you ? Didn't I tell you he'd find his way home again!

Alice, now you listen to me young man. You gave your momma a terrible fright, she's been worried sick about you and you should be ashamed of yourself!

If I were you, I'd be glad I had a home to come back to at all, you have no idea what you put her through you naughty thing!

Now, you just get your tail out of it's twist, tell your momma you are sorry and you will never do such a thing again, or so help me your new Auntie Gale is gonna come over there and tear that house apart one board at a time, and when she finds you, you are gonna wish you had never went and hid! Do you hear me young man ?

Now, I said something about celebrating when he came back, didn't I ? Let's see what I can manage.

:taz:  :gj: :partyon: :carouse: :carrot:  :fest: :pinkele: :fest2:   :headbang:

    And last of all:
    :grouphug:

I am so very happy for you my dear.

What wonderful news! So happy for you. How long has he been missing? Just wanted to remind others who unfortunately find themselves in this situation to give them hope as well.

Hope you and Alice have a nice meal and get plenty of rest now :)

No words, hun. Obviously I'm elated to hear that he's back. Silly boy, just has an independant streak and a bit of an attitude going on.

You know what this means, right? You need to spoil him for a bit so he's not jealous of that boa anymore. Hahaha. Silly goober.

Next time he'd better just tell you when he's upset with something, rather than running away. What a goof.

Very happy you have him back :gj:

I'm so happy for you! I've lost pets before, and can hardly imagine what it must be like to have gotten him back! My family and I have been following Alice's disappearance since late May, and I'm sure they'll be thrilled that he's back.
EDIT: I'm almost crying, I'm so happy for you. Once again, congratulations!

    Not even 12 hours.

"Boo" got here about 3:30 PM and Alice showed up around 2:30 AM.

    The nerve of Alice!

I have non-snake friends who are disappointed that there's no video of me in my floofy pink nighty with half-dried nail polish, ripping out walls with my bare hands [ouch!] and then running like a crazy woman out into the darkness, waving a snake over my head.

[my non-snake friends have it in for me, I think]

I am SO SO SO glad to hear this.

I just had an escape today... i've been tearing the house apart... I'm a mess, im shaking and crying intermittently.. It sucks. Thankfully I don't have any holes in my house for a snake to go crawling in, but she doesn't seem to be in any of the usual spots.

Now I caught your other post about telling the ratsnake that Alice had gone missing. Did he come out of the same hole the ratsnake uses ?

Because I'm thinking your friend told him where a great place to catch mice was, knowing Alice had a good chance of ending up back in the bathroom where you would find him. I think you owe that ratsnake a big thank you.

    Gale

    YES!

In fact, the rat snake kept pointedly going back and forth from there to me and finally wrapped around my feet.

Then he slithered away alongside the tub where the other unknown hole is.

For all I know, that's how Alice was navigating the subfloor area...using those two connected holes.

Now, how do I reward that rat snake?

(hillbillies call them "Pilot snakes" because they are supposed to lead rattlers and coppers to winter dens, where they all snuggle up til spring)

    Weird.

That rat snake has a forever home here, for sure... :)

Heaven knows that I share your pain!

    Grab ahold of Gale!

She'll keep you sane until your snake comes home.

I haven't been on in a couple of days, but I was reading Karote's post a little bit ago and realized that you made a comment about keeping Alice in an escape proof tub. So I searched your forum posts quick as I could to see if Alice actually came back, which lead me here. Uber excited for you that Alice finally came home! I was reading your first post about Alice leaving like every day to see if there was a happy ending and I'm so glad that there was. :colbert2:

More like "There's some big fat clumsy slob who's a lousy hunter in my house!"

You should have seen Alice trying to kill and constrict that puny mouse.

When I first saw him, I thought he had been gravely injured and was in his death throes.

His face was bloody and he was twitching and writhing horribly.

It wasn't until I was literally on top of him that I saw the blood was from the middle-munched mouse and the 'convulsing' was Alice trying desperately to "coil" something so small he couldn't properly get his neck around it.

For all I know, that itty bitty mousling was the first thing he'd been able to successfully snag in 3 weeks of trying.

I know he was starved because he'd come back out of the hole minutes later to find his "kill".
    [which I'd already flushed]

"The Great Yellow Hunter", he ain't.
