Great looker there. One of these day's..........Im gonna get one for myself.
-
Awesome borneo, David. I love the last pic ;) How old is she?
Jennifer
-
I'm not 100% certain of her age, but I think she is around 2 years old.
-
Ok, now I have to be more nosey :P How big is she, weight and length? I really want one (like I'm seriously saving up and the NEXT snake I get WILL be a blood, not sure what kind yet), so I gotta know these things! :D
Jennifer

Umm, lets see.....she is about 2 1/2 feet long. I have not weighed her recently, but I know she is well over 1000 grams. The best Blood to get for a first would be either a Borneo or a Black, both of which I have :)....they are the smaller Bloods, with the monster Reds being the largest (up to 8 feet long and 60+ pounds!!!).
-
that thing looks like a handful. beautiful though. great pics, david.
-
Thanks, Will. Shes not a handful...yet. In about a year, she will be about 4-5 feet long and weigh between 15-20 lbs!!!
-
Beautiful creature. What's the temperment like on Bloods?
-

Well, it can vary. Most will be nippy as babies, but if CBB they will usually calm down alot. Both of mine are very calm, but I have heard horror stories of WC Bloods that were just plain evil, lol. An adult Blood is not a snake you wanna get tagged by. Don't be fooled by their fat appearance, they have one of the fastest strikes on any snake I've seen. Adults command alot of respect.

Anyone with Lichanura trivirgata?
Thanks Jen! I thought it might be appropriate.
And David, I know very little about these Bloods. But I've read that they have quite a girth but don't get too long. What is the average length? And, what should one expect to pay for a "normal" Blood?
-
Well, it all depends on what species you are wanting and how old the snake is and also the origin of the snake (WC or CBB).
Red Bloods/Sumatran Bloods are the largest of the Bloods. They can reach lengths of up to 8 feet and can weigh over 60 lbs! A true giant snake if you ask me! These are also generally the cheapest of the bloods. A CBB baby Red can go for as low as $80.....adults usually go for $200+.
Black Bloods are the medium-sized bloods. They are usually 4-6 feet long and 40+ pounds. They are also generally the most expensive of the bloods. Babies usually go for $150-250+.
Borneo Bloods are the smallest of the bloods. They are generally 4-5 1/2 feet long and 30+ pounds. Prices are usually comparable to the Blacks.
