    Advertised as "Yellow morph".
    [yeah, that narrows it down]

I'm not real big on the Hypo/OG morph by it self but I love what it does to other morphs. If it was a female for the right price, I would snatch it up. Either way it's a pretty good example of the morph.

Okay...with the snakes I have and if it's female, what could I possibly create with her?

I looked at the BP calculator and didn't really get much except "het everything".

Well it is recessive so anything you breed to it you will get Hets, unless you breed something that is Het Hypo or Hypo to it.

Say it is female and you bred your super pastel male to it, all the babies would be pastel het hypo. then you take a male and female from that clutch and breed them. You would get Super Pastel OG/Hypo(SPOG) and Pastel OG/Hypo(POG)

I see males going for $125 so even if that ended up being a male itd be a good deal. Hopefully its a female though so you can breed your super pastel to it.

    Hmmmm....things to ponder.

I did see a really cool Fire/OG combo on the genetic wizard.

The parents were supposedly Fire/OG but I'm confused about the recessive issue.

Would the Fire have had to been recessive for OG?

    [my brain hurts]

    I also vote hypo :gj:.

Even if it wasn't a hypo, I wouldn't mind paying $100 to try to prove it out. I wouldn't mind passing if it's a male. If it's a female, then you've got yourself a STEAL :gj:.

Ok, so the first picture looks Hypo/Ghost, but the others do not.

The others make me think fire.

And if it is a fire, $100 is a ridiculous price, male or female.

And if it's parents really were fire and ghost, then it would be het ghost.

Me personally, I'd get it for $100, and post us some decent pictures. I still think it just might be a fire. And if it is fire and is a girl, you just got a way to make super fires!

They probably meant it's a yellow ghost. So, it's a hypo. It looks like a hypo in every photo to me--most of all in the first one, but I see it in the other two as well.

To make Fire hypos, you will need to breed it to the fire, hold back a Fire offspring, and breed that offspring to the Ghost again. :)

If your Ghost is a female, it's obviously going to take significantly less time to do that. You might theoretically accomplish it in 2 years, though 3 is more likely. If it's a male ghost going with a female fire, however, then it would probably take 4 years, at minimum.

I KNEW I had seen this before!! LOL

I opened up this thread expecting to see an update on a thread I had read about a month ago that was also asking about a "yellow morph"

Opened up the thread, saw the same photo as the other thread I remembered...But wait.. All the posts are dated today? Am I losing my mind?!? Theres no way I imagined this! I know Ive already heard this term "Yellow morph" and seen this exact pic! WTH?!

Well, a quick search helped me regain my sanity (at least whats left of it lol)

    Here ya go:

    http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...t=yellow+morph

Somebody just go get the thing already! :P lol Although, even if it is a Hypo, $100 isnt exactly a steal considering thats around what you can get males from a breeder for anyhow.. Or Fire, for that matter either (Which it isnt anyways)

Wait... so is the first picture the same snake or not? I agree that the second two pictures don't look like the snake in the first at all, neither do the photo qualities. The other thread's OP posted the picture first. I'm confused.

If it isn't a fire I wouldn't have much need of it anyway.

I'm not sure what a hypo could do with the snakes I have and the wizard doesn't list hypo as an option.

So this is how it works. Anything recessive that shows the trait carries the homozygous allele. To obtain this the heterozygous allele, or homozygous allele has to be carried on both parents. So an albino that looks albino is homozygous. If it is het. or heterozygous for albino then it does not show it in the phenotype, bu it is still present in the genotype. So with recessives, both parents have to carry the trait; whether it be heterozygous or not, to be shown in its offspring. The prefix homo means same, hetero= different. A homozygous ghost bred to a normal will produce all normal offspring, but they will all have the same ghost gene. You would then need to breed a het to a het, or homo to produce the visual (phenotype). I know it's a lot, but once you get it, it's very easy
    ;)

Good luck getting that guy to reply to you. Singer's Glenn right? I responded to him the day he posted that ad, even made arrangements to meet up with him, and got stood up. He had to work last minute, but didn't bother to let me know. Since I had driven 45 minutes, I offered to kill time and go see a movie if he was willing to meet after work and got no response (via text). My guy even contacted him from a different number and received the same run around. Complete waste of time.

I even asked the same question here:

    Not cool.

This guy is trying to sell the snake but it seems doesn't really want to ? Or do you figure he's trying to get someone to send him the money first so he'll have the money and the snake ?

If you could get to see it in person, it would be easy as pie to tell what it is, but it sounds like that will be a challenge.

It's weird...I can "get" most of the genetics but the hypo jazz just throws me.

In dog coat color, 'hypo' would mean 'dilute' and I could understand that...but the dilution is uniform.

I'm not getting the snake so I reckon I can just "ignore" hypo completely.

Agreed, I was mightily peeved. He's offering the snake for $100 and the tank for another $50. I think I might have received the runaround because I wasn't interested in the tank or maybe a partner or parent is pressuring him to sell the animal and this is his way of halfheartedly complying. I was never asked for money up front.

After some research I've found 2 local breeders, one who is reputable, very active on this forum and another, is open to local pick up, that I like to buy from once his babies are ready.

It's really hit or miss. This person is just rude. I've had some decent luck on Craigslist. I have some awesome pieces of furniture that I'd never be able to afford new, the fattest brattiest tuxedo cat ever, & the pastel mouser male in my avatar.

I got a .1 Dumerils, 1. BCI and gluttonous female BP from Craig's List and then bought a bunch of frozen feeders that the snakes wouldn't eat.

I even started a thread about those mice, due to their horrible appearance.
    [scars, bites, missing fur, etc]

I couldn't see the state that most of them were in until I got them home and unpacked them.

I have a regular FT supplier now so I won't make that mistake again.
