The Future of Reticulated Pythons?

Hey, I have had an interest in reptiles and have kept them for years and have thought of turning my hobby into something more. The species I thought about breeding was retics, but I'm not so certain of their future. Would it be worth it? Or will these too just go the way of the Burms and the other banned species?

Sadly, with all te irrational laws against giant snakes, ful-sized retics may become very hard to keep legally. However, dwarf retics are a very managable size and have the same mesmerizing beauty and personality of their full-sized counterparts. For now, the dwarfs are more expensive, but given time their prices will probably drop.

i would think dwarfs would go the way of the larger counterparts if laws were enacted against them. i would hate to see this but i doubt people propose these bans will see any difference in the two.

If they pass any law towards reticulated pythons they will give no hearing to dwarf retics they will have the same laws as the mainland species.

Yeah, I figure that just cause it's a small locality or a dwarf subspecies or something of that nature won't protect the smaller varieties from being banned if the full sized ones do. But I guess that still isn't much discussion as to weather or not the reticulated pythons in general are likely to be added to the banned constrictor list.

They will be banned unless we step up and start some lawsuits. We have to continue to fight these laws even after they are passed to show them we will not back down.

You know, that's actually a real good response, If we do nothing, it's just a matter of time. And should a ban slip by anyways, we ought to fight it tooth and nail. I guess this is one of those things we just can't know for sure about, but thanks for your comment

The best thing we can do is support USARK, they fight very hard for our right to keep the reptiles we want but they don't have the huge budgets that the FWS and USHS do. That means that anything we can donate is a huge help.

retiks are next in line for coping block . we are going to be destroyed by our one government unless we do something .

I know I won't give up if the government decides to try banning more reptiles, we can't just let them take things away from us. Those of us we really love reptiles won't stand for anymore bans. Government taking things from us. It's absurd.

The best action that we can do to save our reticulated pythons is go in and take back the four they took from us! Donate anything to usark to help a dollar helps more then you know. We have to stand up and show them that our community is big enough to put in a good fight and we need to show them we are more then willing to continue to fight even after we lost. Even if we loose and hsus wins and they get everything at least you can say at the end of the day that you fought as hard as possibly could and did everything in your power to stand up for what you believe in.
