Het to het hitting or missing the odds
I was just wondering what peoples luck has been like with hitting the odds on het to het Pairings.

What's people best and worse results?

Mine is 13 eggs and no visual but still hoping

Well as you may know it is a 25% chance to get a visible morph from two 100% hets. 13 eggs will definitely get you more rolls of the dice, but the odds remain the same. I have seen 25% and 50% visible success personally of friends clutches. I just bought a pair of 100% het pieds. the male has a leopard pied father. I had a friend tell me to get rid of my male and he will let me use his visible pied so I get a 50% chance. But I am taking the 25% chance on the Leopard Pied outcome. *fingers crossed

wasn't my snakes, but I watched the first couple hatch, buddy of mine had a pair of het albinos and out of 6 eggs hit 4 visuals.

So what would be a good indicator that they are not hets? 20 eggs? 50 eggs? 2 seasons? 4 seasons?

Eventually, you have to go get the visual morph to put to the female to prove her out but at what point do you make that determination? Just wondering as I also have some het to het pairings going on this year. Thanks

statistics, going to vary from person to person. for example, 13 eggs above, you only have a 2.3% chance of missing a visual, 20 eggs you only have a 0.3% chance... how unlucky do you think you are? lol

I cannot believe outta 13 eggs you didnt get any visuals lol! Maybe this year if you get another 13 eggs youll get like 10 visuals to make up for those crappy odds first time around!

Doesn't matter how many eggs she lays you would still have a 25% chance. It's 25% per egg not on the amount of eggs so of you miss on 13 eggs you're just unlucky. I would personally try for 2 seasons and if I didn't hit the visual then I would buy the male.

I kinda thought after 6 eggs last year an no visual I would be certain to hit with the next seven she laid but oh well. I still got some funky little hatchlings so I'm still over the moon. Might be time to buy a visual.

My one and only het to het was this year. Het albino to het albino. 7 eggs, 5 hatched. 4 possible hets, 1 albino.

I will be breeding for the first time this coming season and have a het pied and a pastel possible het pied. My het pied lady wont be ready this year but I am hoping that I can do a late season pairing with my pastel php. I have a male pied to breed to her in this circumstance because I want to try to prove her out but as for the het to het if I were going this route which I believe I will eventually I would give it a couple seasons and then buy the visual male if I still failed to produce a visual.

As for the odds I have only seen vids and threads on here but I just saw one who produced 2 great looking pieds from het to het and I think it was 3 pos hets. I would be happy with just one visual. But I love seeing the het to het results theres just so much anticipation with those pairings and the gambling side of me would compel to go the het X het route.

I saw a Garrick Demeyer vid that was a pastel het clown to het clown and he produced 2 pastel clowns and 1 clown out of 5 eggs. some good odds. Its just all in the hands of the odds gods but seeing people hit the odds is motivating and encouraging.

Best: 9 eggs 4 visuals PIED
    8 eggs 4 visuals PIED

Worst: 14 eggs 3 visuals PIED

From the same girl. That last clutch, only had one girl in it too......talk about bad odds.

I could say another best is my first try at Pewter Pieds. I bred Pewter het Pied X Pastel het Pied. From three eggs 1.0 Pied, 0.1 Pewter 66% het, and 0.1 Pewter or Sterling Pied. Not exactly sure yet. We hatched 2.1 in 2010 and we are hoping to get some results this season.
