Identify please!
Hey everyone, I just got my first boa! Im still quite unsure how to identify morphs and BCI vs BCC so I was wondering if anyone could tell me what I have. My guess is a normal Colombian BCI but I just wanted some clarification.

Looks like a normal Colombian to me too. Nice guy, he's all eyes!

Re: Identify please!
I agree with Daybreaker, but I'm definitely no expert. My boy Diablo looked very similar as a baby, and that's what he is, a Colombian BCI. :)

Looks like a normal BCI, most likely Colombian. :gj: You can tell the BCI apart from the BCC by the saddles on their backs. BCCs tend to have very defined "peaks" in their saddles, and their heads look a little different. If he's a pet store animal, he's almost certainly a normal Colombian BCI. They are the most common locale in the pet trade. That little fella you have there has got an amazing tail pattern! Gorgeous animal. Congrats on that pick-up! :gj:
Here is a picture of a Suriname BCC (My favorite locale) for reference generated from a random google search:

Congratulations, and welcome to the Boaddiction. The shape of the head and saddles say BCI...

Thanks for the help, everyone. I've only had him for a week but I'm totally in love. I'm amazed how inquisitive he is and such an amazing feeder! I can't wait until he gets bigger! I already want another one! By the way, are boas pretty fast growing or slow compared to BPs?

Yeah that a BCI, and so cute, i miss my guys at that size.

Congrats on the BCI, they are awesome!

Definitely sounds like a boa. :D They are so easy to fall in love with. I got Diablo back in November of 2009. I think he was a couple months old. Since then, he has more than tripled in size. He went from this:

Not sure if that helps or gives you an idea, but figured I'd put it out there for ya. ;)

Boas do seem to grow slower than BP's for the first year or so. They tend to have growth spurts later than BP's. During the 2nd and 3rd year is when they really bulk up and fill out. You will notice that with boas, they will grow in length, and then the girth will catch up. Don't overfeed them. RTB's should have a more square shape to their body...

Unless its a striped or aberrant patterned BCC. They are becoming more popular and prominent in the hobby lately. They also have a very different tail and diamond pattern along the sides. And yes their heads are larger, longer, more arrow or wedge shaped, and defined. I love their heads!

Wanna give a guess on mine too? :)
Officially shes declared a pure breed boa cc peru her parents actually were wild caught peru cc s .. well but something must have happened back in the jungle.. since she s missing the points on her saddles and the red on her tail is very brownish, her sibblings tails are all red ;)
