Hey all,
Just a reminder, if you have any problems with any features not working right, or seeming to not work right.. let us know so we can lok into it and fix it if something is wrong. We want this site in tip top condition.
-
Yip, I don't think there are anymore bugs tho.
-
Except that I get logged out every 5 minutes or so and it's gotten worse. It used to be just when I let the window sit idle, but not anymore. It's irritating.
-
2 quick feeding questions
Marla...Im glad that is you now. I use to have that problem and boyyyyyy did it irritate me. Sorry it is happening to you, but better you than me. :D
-
LOL, Ironhead. Maybe it has to inflict one member and it's my turn.
-
I have frequent problems.
The main problem is that sometimes (almost daily) when I access the site or try to, I get "THIS PAGE CANNOT BE FOUND". Sometimes I won't be able to get on this website for several hours.
Also, sometimes when I do get on here, every picture is "x"d out. And once I see that, it's ususally not long before I can't access the website at all.
Last, here recently, when I've tried to log on, I get the message stating that my password is no good. I have to send for a confirmation number, then submit that to receive a new password. Enter that, and then once logged on, change my password to what it once was.
Frustrating.
-
I also have the problem with the forum icons failing to appear, but I'm pretty sure that's a minor bug in the forum software because I see it elsewhere as well and it almost always disappears on a reload. Marcus' problems getting to the site may be due to his ISP or even browser (if it's old enough), but the login problems are almost definitely bugs that should be fixed.
-
I have pretty much the same problem as Marla, with an added twist. Sometimes when I login I get a error saying "Username or password not found" or something to that effect. However, it *does* log me in.
I just wish I could stay logged in so I could see what's unread.

Just to let you guys know, everything is in tip top shape over here :) Haven't had a problem since the first day I logged in. I think it's just your computers, guy, lol... j/k

It's not just the icons "x"d out on my end sometimes. It's every single picture too. And if it's my ISP, then I don't understand why it's only THIS site that I experience these things. I'm also using Internet Explorer 5.0 or 6.0 which ever is the latest.

Sorry, my bad. It could still be related to your ISP, if they use site-caching, like AOL and Earthlink, among others. Usually a forced refresh of the page will fix it if that is the case, but it can be difficult to pin down.
-
I've only had one problem, every time I try to rename a sub-photo album in my album, it won't let. Everything goes through like it has, but when I look it hasnt. And if I try to rename it again with the same name, it says that name is already taken

Hmm, I wonder if any of this has to do with bandwidth problems... like just alot of traffic on the site at one time. Cause I know there are sites I down load items for a game I play, and when there is alot of traffic on it, there is problems connecting/signing in with the site and or downloading...
As far as the seeing pics on the site.. not sure what would cause that..although at time I get that to and refreshing the page fixes that. Site- caching does cause that too. Depends on how your ISP works.
Also, occassionally, I get other minor problems, but have found if I clear out excess "cookies" on my end and/or defrag my puter it takes care of most of the problems. Food for thought..consider defragging your puter and see if it clears up. Yes, I know for those of us that have "HUGE" hard drives defragging can be time consuming, but it is worth a shot IMHO.
-
meh just reformat the ol drive
its quicker than defraging and does a better job at fixing it.
sometimes getting new drivers and the internet back up and running can be a pain
but defraging would take me like all 8 hrs.

Hi,
You know when you log in and there's the little check box asking if you want to be rembered? Well I've checked that box countless times, but It doesn't seem to remember me.

remember me
Make sure you allow windows or whatever operating system you use to save your password too. That may help.
Other than that... not sure what else to tell ya.
pimp_n_python.. not me, I wont reformat, i got to many things on my drive to have to put back in to have it set up right, and alot of saved things. I have over 20 Gigs of hard drive space being used cause off all the stuff I use. I would rather defrag it. LOL
-
i have the problem with nameing the sub album also. thats the only real problem i have.
-
i have that problem as well mike. ive found that it wont let me name, or describe the album at first... i have to go back and do it from the thumbnail of the album. no biggie though.
-
K, I'll be checking with my server admin. These problems have only started showing up since I switched hosts, so maybe he'll know what's up.
-
When naming your sub albums, click on the Properties link in the upper right corner of the page, not the rename link in the dropdown box, and it should work.
-
The only problem I have right now, which really isnt a problem, is that it show's that I am the only one on the site, when in fact, there are several others on because post's keep getting posted while it show's that im the only one on.
-
ive been having that too. i thought it might be because the list on the left only shows users that have been active in the pas 5 minutes. but that wouldnt make sense if new posts keep coming up (new ones come up for me too)
-
Ok, here is how it goes.
The problem with pictures not loading is reportedly a problem with your computer, so says the server admin.
When it logs you in and out it is a problem with cookies. You need to clear them or something, not sure. That could be why I never see the problem, I delete mine daily.
And the gallery is a problem with file permissions. I'll be re-installing the gallery soon anyway, so that should fix it.
How often are you guys getting error messages, and lost images. And is it possible your browser is screwy? The files are not linked to images directly on a good portion of this site. They will often just has a tag like <img src="header.jpg" or something. Typically your browser will just go right to http://www.ball-pythons.net/header.jpg and put that up. If this could be the problem I'll directly link.
-
FWIW, John, I administer a couple of forums and I never have this problem with being logged out, much less being logged out within a couple of minutes of logging in. If it is a problem with cookies, then the problem is on the part of the forum setting them to expire too quickly and not something that I can affect here as a client.
-
If the problem is with my computer, then I'm not sure I can understand why it's only this website that I'm experiencing the problems.
Lastnight when I got home, I couldn't even get on the website. At all. Wouldn't bring it up. "This page cannot be found" our whatever. And then a hour or so later, it brought it up with no images at all. They were all "x"d out. Then a minute or so after that, "This page cannot be found" again.
Strange but true.
-
Something screwed up when the site was transfered. This is weird. I'll be checking the board cookie settings today. And trying to solve this.
-
That is the security settings John has put on to auto log members out
(This is matthew just not logged in)
