i got these 2 balls today.i knew the one was skinny and had ri and the other one looked ok. i figured i would fatten up and cure the ri in the one but when i got home i really looked at them and saw that they were not really healthy.they both have problems with there mouth.i think it is mouth rot and they both have more than one retained eye cap.i am thinking of taking them back and getting my money back and i was wondering what you guys think i should do.please comment

If you're not happen and/or cannot afford some (possible) costly vet bills I would return them. Any good seller would return your money.

I got a big normal girl last year and upon getting her home I noticed she had a mild RI: I let the seller know and he was more than happy to take her back. I decided to keep her and shell out the vet bills to get her better and honestly I don't regret keeping her, she's a nice girl.

Did you ask the seller about why they were not in great shape when you went to pick them up? Honestly, if you knew that at least one was not well, you probably shouldn't have made the purchase to begin with. Return them ASAP if the seller will take them...good luck, hope it works out!

Pennsylvania Reptile Enthusiasts? Is it that guy in jersey who also has the rainbow boa? I'd return them and get my money back.

I would not have bought a snake that looked like that in the first place. Looks like he did a good job rescuing the one

I would take them back it's not worth the risk to your current collection. I hope you didn't pay much for that normal!

What were you going to cure the RI with if you can't afford vet bills? Sure, lots of RIs go away with husbandry change, or even limiting stressors... but what if it wasn't going to get better? Were you going to close your eyes and wish really hard that it would get better?

Vet bills can become more expensive then what you think FAST. I think I would recommend giving them back to save you lots of possible headaches.

I strongly urge you not to add animals to your collection just for the sake of having more animals. You need to make a plan for what you want your collection to be or eventually produce, then stick with that plan and procure the highest quality snakes you can afford.

You will never be disappointed buying quality animals. And just as a tip, you'll find very few quality animals by surfing FB and Craig's List.

I don't usually disagree with you, Slim, but I know there are quite a few excellent quality breeders that have a pretty strong Facebook presence, including some of our mods... ;)

True, I got my nice little spider girl off CL from a quality breeder (who also advertises on Fauna). Sometimes you get lucky :)

The main thing is to look for quality and be wary of anything that's "a steal" or anyone who seems ignorant about the animals. Craigslist definitely makes the search for a needle in a haystack harder, but hey, I've sold one or two there myself. :) Not that I'd ever post there again. The only thing worse than some of the ignorant sellers on that site is some of the ignorant buyers that want to make insulting offers and then argue with you (via text) when you politely decline!
