Should i be worried
So my Bp has eaten 3 mice, i've been told he should be eating rat pups just havent found live one for sale yet. he hasnt popped yet lol, had him for 8 weeks actually only seen him poop 1 lol.

How big is he? What is his weight? Do you know his age?
-
Need to get a scale but hes 2 1/2 years old about 2 1/2 feet long and big enough around to be eating rat pups
-
There is no way he is 2 1/2 year old...

A ball python that is healthy and 2.5 years old should be able to eat small rats. From his length, he sounds like he is small, which is to be expected if he has been eating mice. He probably has not defecated yet because his meals are too small and he is metabolizing the small meals he is eating.
If I were you, I'd bump his meal size and get him on rats. After 2.5 years on mice, he may not switch over easily. It would still be nice to know his weight and to see a pic.

x2 If he really is this old, and you've only fed him 3 mice in 8 weeks, you are PAINFULLY underfeeding him. Male BPs at that age are typically fed 1 small (50-80g) rat per week. To give you a size reference, an adult mouse is only 20-30g. Get a scale.

http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...72535-My-snake Here are some pics i posted of my snake if that helps at all, The pet shop i got him from was only feeding him 1 adult mouse every 2 weeks i've bumped him up to 1 a week and he seems to like that.

Ok, that makes more sense. :) I would definitely up him to a small rat, rather than just a pup, weekly. And a scale really is the best, cheapest tool you can have to know when to worry about your BP. Just weight him once a month or so and write it down, as well as use it to check his prey size.
Also, check out this great thread if you are interested in getting him on F/T rats, so you can buy in bulk (F/T is much cheaper than live, IMO): http://ball-pythons.net/forums/showt...t-feeder-types

Re: Should i be worried
The only thing that worries me about going to rats he only eats live so i dont lnow how a live rat would go.

Looking at the picture, I'd go with a weaned rat. Small rat may be a little big. If he is used to eating mice, then a small rat may seem huge to him and it could scare him. If he ate the weaned, then do that for a week or two, then try a small.

Adult mice are actually considered much more aggressive and dangerous than weanling or small rats, because they are relatively older, and because they are mice.
