Help me pick my first morph
I hope this is the right forum to post this in. Anyways, i've got two lovely normals, but i really want a morph to round out my first collection. So here is where i need advice.

    I'm looking for something that

    a. is not SUPER expensive, i cant pay 5000$ for a pet right now. i'm no breeder, so i won't be making any money back on it.

    b. something that doesn't look like a normal with a slight variation. i want something that looks really different.

    c. no odd neurological side effects (i.e. wobbles)

Which morph do you guys think i should start with?

Pinstripes aren't that expensive especially for males and I think they look pretty different :D

Bumblebee or Kingpin :gj: Of course "not super expensive" doesn't really tell us what your price range is. ;)

Note: A wobble doesn't have to be a bad thing. My bee and his spider daughter only shake a little when excited to feed, and it's actually pretty darn cute!

Someone who wasn't interested in breeding also asked this question and they settled for a great looking lesser :gj:.

Lessers are a pattern AND color morph! They're one of my favorites to mix into other morphs. I would get a female regardless of whether or not you plan to breed :gj:. Plans change :D, and having a lesser female big enough to breed when you decide to give it a try should be a great feeling :gj:.

Everyone likes pieds, and they look awesome to people who don't even like snakes :gj:.

I would also like to know your budget. There's some pretty cool snakes you can get for less than 500, and there's some seriously SWEET snakes you can get for less than 1000, especially if you get a good deal :gj:.

Super pastel is my pick. You can get males for under $400, and they are brighter than a regular pastel.

Don't forget about the 'plain old" Albino! For the price...What looks more different from a normal than an Albino?

BEL - as far from normal as you can get.

Whats your price range? I used to consider the $500+ range superrrr expensive. That is until i spent $850 on a snake

You tell us what you want to spend and we'll be able to give you a good suggestion. So far suggestions have ranged from about $150-$1,000. Thats a pretty big margin lol. My other suggestion is since males a generally cheaper and you only want it as a pet i would definetly get a male.:gj:

The margin is so wide because everyone has their own opinion on an "expensive" snake. I think $500 for a crazy looking morph is good. I think $1000 is the starting point for "expensive". It all boils down to what you can afford :gj:. Once we get an answer from the OP about how much they're looking to spend, we can give him better answers :P. So far, all we got is "not $5000" LOL. Okay! Get pastel pied! Or a lavender albino! LOL

Thanks for all the responses everyone. To answer to commonly asked question, right now, my collection consists of two normals, one was free, other was 40$, so the wife would probably kill/maim me if i spent over 500$.

I like the look of the pinstripe, just wish i could get one with a color morph. ill check into the enchi and lessers.

Um... Ghost Mojave... my male was $500... best bang for $500 IMO

He has it all - Pattern AND Color morph, Visual Recessive AND Incomplete Dominant morphs.

Despite a few exceptions, enchis are a relatively subtle morph. Their value (to me) comes from the combo potential (color and pattern) as well as the fact that their colors look awesome even as adults, compared to other morphs that become "dull".

You like pinstripes? Get a lemon blast! Jinx has a fantastic lemon blast! Though it is het hypo which some people say will brighten up a morph ;), it's still a great example of the morph, and it is a good "par" to set when looking for a lemonblast :gj:.

You can get a lesser x pinstripe male for around $700, but I'm sure you can haggle for a better price :P. I don't really feel comfortable encouraging haggling, especially since some breeders get annoyed when people try to get good snakes for whole-sale prices .. There are still some breeder who will be more than happy to come closer to your budget if you just let them know what your set limit is!

I would also like to suggest black pewters :gj:.. Silver and black as babies, and nice and grey as adults .

Long post.. sorry LOL. There's a lot out there :D

Oh, and as good as the Ghost Mojo looks in pics, he is even better in person. One of the most undervalued snakes in the business IMO.

Lemonblasts are cool, but is is actually pretty hard to find a nice one. Same for Enchis.

If you have $500 I would skip over single gene males. There are a handful of double gene fellas you could get for that. If you want a female, then you will likely have to stick with a nice single gene.
