Question

I have had my BP since Dec. 13 in this time he has eaten 2 pinkies about 5 days apart and last Sunday I gave my BP a adult mouse.
He has yet to have a fecal movement, is this normal.
I guess I really dont know how often they do, but it sure seems like something should have came out by now.
And from reading these posts I should be feding him again soon, I have read that about every 7 days for a young BP about 22" .

Also it has gotten crazy cold here like 20-30 degrees for the highs and I want to take him to the Vet to get checked out how do you guys get your snakes to the Vet and keep them warm????

Pinkies? A hatchling BP can take adult mice right out of the egg. They also have slow metabolisms, so they don't poop a whole lot.

When I need to transport my snakes in the winter, I just heat up the car for a few minutes before I get in and keep the snake shielded from the cold in my jacket or something (I put them in a pillow case or snakebag first though, lol).

yeah, I started feeding him pinkies because thats what they told me at Petco where I got my BP and I thought that wasnt quite enough and then I found this site and soon learned he could eat adult mice and fairly soon fuzzy rats.
I was shocked at what great shape and health he was in considering he came from Petco. I watched him for a few days to see how he acted before I purchased.

The Petco in my town sells wc for $19.95 each and they are very mean, I purchased mine from a friend who has a reptile store, they were cb and are very friendly.

I put my snake in a pillowacase (turned inside out) with a knot in it. I then place it in a cooler to carry it in so that he can feel the security of something underneath him and beside him (the coolder sides and bottom). Also makes it easier to carry. I warm the car up real good and maybe even use those products that I believe are called "warm hands".

I'm just curious, where is the proof/supporting evidence behind all these feeding rules: how many days between feedings, what size prey to offer, etc.

I sometimes wonder if these rules are the result of real research (if yes, I'd be interested in reading it if someone can provide links, book titles, etc) or did somebody just start telling others what they thought was right.

all caresheets i've read explain it pretty well.

Its fine, but whats the point? A pinky mouse will make no bulge whatsoever in a baby BP unless the snake is emaciated. They should be on at least hoppers for thier first meal. Feeding small meals more frequently is not healthy for the snake because it does not have time to replenish its gut flora that is necessary for proper digestion and nutrient extraction.

Wow wc for 19.95 I paid 69.95 on sale from 89.95 for my Ozzy but I am fairly sure he is cb especially they way he fed right away and no problem. He is very sweet and shy.
I just made him his Vet appt for this coming Friday so I hope he indeed comes out with a clean bill of health.
Vet office told me she likes them in a pillowcase then put in a cooler with something warm in it such as a hot water bottle, but the warm hands suggestion is good. They are easy to buy this time of year around here cause all the hunters and fisherman use them to keep hands warm.
