    Steralizing Cage or Tubs?
What are your favorite products to use to clean your cages, tubs, or racks?

What do you like about it?

I use Chlorhexadine, but that is just because I have been too lazy to order the more stable F10. I will order some when my bottle of chlorhex is out.

X3... I clean my tubs with Dawn dishwashing liquid and hot water, then disinfect them after they dry. I do the same with hides. I also wash my water bowls with Dawn, then run them through the dishwasher on scalding, but don't put any soap in the washer.

I use a diluted bleach solution. Then rinse to make sure theres no bleach smell. For bowls/hides i usually wash out with dawn and rinse it out well.
I use the bleach bc i can get it from work for free whenever i need to. And im a big fan of free stuff that works lol

I have a whole system I use, clean out the substrate with a vacuum, wipe out any dust with a wet rag, steam clean, spray with F10sc XD detergent, scrub with a stiff brush, steam clean and rinse out detergent. Then I spray with F10sc and wait the 20 min contact time and wipe it dry. Each enclosure takes me about 30-45 min the rack and all the tubs takes 4.5 hours.

Not steril but close. I usually do all every month or two.

Unflavored Listerine and a steam wand.

I let it dry for about 10 minutes in case there's any smell left over and it seems to work very well and is non-toxic.

I want to order the F10 stuff, though.

    deep cleaning:
I swap out 5 tubs every wednesday (6, 41qt, 5 tub racks and 1 hatchling rack 32 tub, 6qt rack). 10% bleach water, spray, scrub, rinse with hot water, dry, spray with lysol, let sit 24hrs, wash with dawn and water, dry and start over.
    Spot cleaning:
Spray with vinegar based multisurface cleaner, wipe clean, dry with paper towel, wipe spot with rubbing alchol let air dry for 10min while I give it a quick wipe down with a wet warm paper towel and just enjoy holding my pet.
I'm a little ocd with cleaning my cages. or atleast thats what i've been told.

I use a water/vinegar spray for my general cleaning (got into the habit since I've had so many different critters, big and small, including fish, so I was paranoid about using chemicals lol). I've got clorhexidine for actual disinfecting.

Have you seen the Palmolive Clear/no residue stuff yet?

Lowes sells it and it absolutely leaves nothing bad behind.

I use it when washing the snake tubs in the shower and for my dogs' food and water bowls.

A handheld steam cleaner with a microfiber end really gets tanks squeaky clean.

No I have not. I have used Dawn for about a decade. I see no reason to change what's not broken :)
