What are some of your phobias?
What are some of your phobias or things that scare you?

For me it has to be spiders. I get made fun of all the time by my family and friends because I have no problem handling snakes, alligators, and other large reptiles and mammals, but I can't handle spiders. No matter how big haha. I've even been bitten by one while doing the dishes, who knew a spider would be hiding in there! :(

Edit: Wow, title fail. I meant 'What are some of your phobias?'

OMG I thought I was crazy! I used to tan all the time when I was younger, but for some reason they really started creeping me out! I don't even want to tan anymore because of all the risks, 20-something year olds getting cancer and such, but they still scare me.

I don't do too well with heights, but it's relative. I love flying, and I love hiking mountains, but the third floor of the mall scares me. Weird lol.

Bugs. I hate bugs. But I own 11 tarantulas  again, weird.

The ocean for sure. A few years ago I couldn't even step foot in the water at the beach. Last summer I went snorkeling for the first time ever, and once I got over the panic it was quite fun. BUT the next day I tried snorkeling again, during low tide, and almost got skewered by sea urchins and got caught about 2 inches away above fire coral. I'm pretty sure that about did it for me again lol.

Cynophobia. Absolutely terrified of dogs. No matter the size, I cannot go near dogs. Although I hold a friend's dog all the time. Any other dog though, I get very scared.

Flying! The thought of getting on an airplane just makes me weak in the knees! I think I would have to be sedated if I had to fly! I am an auto mechanic and I know better than to trust any machine, or the people that work on them!

I dont even like to bring this up because i will bug myself out. But i have been deathly afraid of Aliens since i was a child. So many sleepless nights, worrying about getting abducted and little creepy Aliens at the foot of my bed. LOL. No joke. I hate Alien and U.F.O. shows. I stay away from Discovery channel at night.

Mildly afraid of heights. I can climb ladders and walk on roofs. But anywhere that I can look down a good ways and not see anything beneath me I get the deer in headlights effect.

Not really afraid of anything to the point it affects my life. I dont do too well with needles but i dont pass out. I get light headed and kinda nauseated but nothing more than that. I do have tattoos though so that type of needle doesnt bother me. I hate horses too. Im not afraid of them, i just dont like them.

Yea like i always compared it to a croc or gator. You see they have big heads and their mouths are big too. This is normal... Horses on the other hand, have similar large heads yet they have tiny mouths. You look at them though and their jaw muscles are HUGE. I fed a horse once and it bit me. Ever since then ive been afraid that if i go to feed one my arm will just get sucked up into their mouths and their huge jaws will just crush my hand and bite off my arm.
Like i said though, it doesnt affect my daily life bc i cant think of any situation where id be forced to get up close and personal with a horse lol.

Well I'm a tattooed student pilot so I guess that rules out needles and heights. I had horses when I was younger, so no hippophobia here (Mike-horses are total herbivores, they don't want your arm LOL!). I get the tune to Madagascar stuck in my head all the time, so lemurs are OK.

I'm not thrilled with insects. If they just stay where they are and don't go all a-flying around my head then I'm OK...but darn June bugs seem to have no sense of direction except towards me.

What I really don't like is small, closed in spaces. Dark, dank elevators are the worst. And oh em gee...the little tram thingie that goes to the top of the St. Louis Arch, they cram like 10 people in there too, that thing was the worst. And the elevator to the top of the Sears Tower in Chicago...Along those lines, crowds make me a little uneasy, but I think that's just cause people are all bumping into me and stuff.

    I have the normal ones,

    scared of the dark
scared of heights, which is actually the fear of falling

Then I have a really weird one...but it does have a name!!!
    sidonglobophobia

....the fear of cotton balls, yeah...

I HATE cotton balls. I have chills going up my spine just thinking about them right now. They are like nails on a chalkboard to me. The sound when you squish it, the feeling, all of it makes me shiver. We had this discussion at work because we were hanging those cotton spider web things and I was shivering and telling people I could not help with that, and then I was forced to admit I was crazy, lol. The gal who sits next to me looked it up and says "hey you have a real phobia!"

Spiders. We have 5 tarantulas and I'm ok with them being in their containers, but I refuse to hold them. You can add scorpions to that fear as well. Screw that! I'm ok with a lot of other bugs, though. Roaches, stick bugs and other harmless bugs don't phase me.

Any kind of bees. Doesn't matter what kind. Honey bees, wasps, yellowjackets, hornets, you name it. You'd be amazed how fast I can run when bees are involved.

Commercial flying. I don't trust the planes nor the pilots. I am perfectly fine with flying in small personal aircraft because I can take control if something can happen. Luckily my doctor hooked me up with some ativan for our flight here in a couple days.

Riding passenger in cars. Can't do it. I will drive, thank you very much.

Being in water alone, especially open water. Murky water and open water at night are the worst. I am ok with swimming in our little pool, but I wouldn't go in the ocean or a lake alone. I don't even like doing it with a large group of people.

Other people's bodily fluids. I don't even like shaking hands with people.

I have a few more, but I can't discuss them here. Most are probably irrational, but yeah...

I like watching horse races bc the jockeys are always whipping them with the little sticks. And in skyrim i always kill the horses or steal them and run them off cliffs so they die.
Now that were having this discussion i realize how much i actually hate them and how disturbed i am lol...

One, you can't hate horses! That hurts me inside. And two, being afraid of chickens is a legitimate fear, lol. I had to get stitches on my face right under my eye thanks to a chicken!!! Some heights. I love climbing trees, but I am terrified of ladders and going near the edge of a roof.

All bees except honey bees. I was stung nine times on the neck by a yellow jacket when I was young. My dad raises honey bees, though, and we get fresh honey every year.

Needles. Could be more like the fear of having something taken or put in my body via a needle, though I have a tattoo (and want more) so those needles are fine. I did almost faint after it, though, because the adrenaline (from fear I would be afraid of it XD) wore off and my body temperature was quite high.

Drowning. I can't hold my breath very long so I'm terrified of diving into water. I love swimming, but can't dive into water.

Woods at night. I have an overactive imagination. It makes things appear.

I also don't like cotton balls. I can't stand the feel of them!

Balloons being blown up. It scares me SO badly! Where I work we have to blow up balloons and if I'm doing it I'm alright but if someone else does it I have to be all the way on the other side of the store. That and zombies. I can handle Plants Vs Zombies the game but all this talk about zombies has me really freaked out. So if there's a zombie blowing up balloons with a helium tank I'll probably have a heart attack and die.

Bugs. I hate you right now lol. I hate insects and beetles so much my bio teacher in high school let me collect and categorize leaves instead. The *thought* of cockroaches being in a closet at a previous job had me frozen in fear.

Ghosts. I love ghost shows, anything ghost related, but the thought of actually seeing a person walk by me that isn't living freaks me out.

Big bodies of water with no land in sight. Think like in a raft in the middle of the ocean. Whales are huge....what if there's one near me? Ughgh, freaking myself out thinking about it.

    An apocalypse.

    Erm...
    - Spiders
    - Falling - not scared of heights, I'm petrified of falling: Falling off something, falling out of bed, falling over (including being tripped)
    - Being picked up in a firemans lift
    - Hard boiled eggs (I dont even know)
    - The feel of wet wool (makes me want to vomit)
    - Being in a car when a lorry drives in the next lane (Ridiculous fear of it falling on the car)
    - Thunderstorms
    - Bees and Wasps
    - Ventriloquist dummies
    - Daddy Long Legs and Moths
    - Anything sharp, pointy or able to cause damage going anywhere near my wrists
