I need some tips on cooling down my reptile room now that summer is pretty much here. Not sure if i should use an air conditioner or what. All of my racks and enclousures have been getting 88 ambient temps for the cool side. Not Good. Suggestions Please...

Are your animals in the coolest room available? How about some fans to circulate the air?

I know that feel bro! I live in Ontario Canada and it got to 40oC here thats like 102oF!

I turned off my room heater and just have a fan blowing now that temps are staying fine now they were getting way to hot.

I do have a fan, not sure how i should angle it. I had it on the floor pointing upwards. Now i have it in the window, blowing the hot air out of the room, if that makes sense.

when i was a lil kid and my room got to hot in the summer. what i did was get a few 2 letter soda bottles. fill 3/4th the way up put them in the freezer (with the lids off) after they i would put them behind my box fan it blows cool are around the room. also put a towel under the bottles so the condensation doesn't make a mes on your floor.

Good point! The one way I would not point it is toward the rack or tubs. Wouldn't want to dry them out with the extra air flow.

I would first try and blow the hot air out, while keeping an eye on the ambient temp.

My reptile room tends to get to hot if I leave the door closed. I have the (house) air conditioner on most of the time and the ceiling fan on as well.

I need the room a bit cooler cause I have Brazilian Rainbow Boa who can't have her warm side above 85 and that pretty much puts the room at 75-82 which is prefect for ambient temp for balls.

Good Luck! Cooling down is harder than trying to make something warm enough to me lol

Travis lives in Massachusetts. I'm guessing he may not have central air?

Just get a window AC (:
I used to have one in my room and it was up around 93 in the FALL. Now it's a nice 70 all the time.

This is a really good idea. I live in CT and we dont have AC. Im gunna try this though.
My stepdad's "AC" method is the good ole "open the doors and maybe we can get a breeze going".

Poor man's A/C. I have heard a fan angled on top of a cooler full of ice works too.

Keep your curtains/blinds closed, the sun won't heat your room that way.

They make portable box fan style evaporative coolers. Might be a better option for a temporary situation. Helps keep the humidity up as well, an a/c will suck the humidity out of the air.

Whenever the ambients get within about 3 degrees of the hot end of the enclosure I just unplug the heat and plug it back in when the heat wave is over. Maybe this would work for you?
