What's the proper way to ship a snake?

    AND

Should you NOT tell the UPS people what your shipping?

    Need input A.S.A.P.

    Thanks!

If you are asking how to ship the ball pythons that Danny is giving to you, I thoroughly explained it to him through PM's. You should ask him if he still has those PM's, because they were detailed and long. :)

And I have never told UPS I was shipping a snake, they are (what I've heard) against it. Oh, and DO NOT ship USPS. If you get caught, it's breaking a federal law. Just some FYI. ;)

I have shipped snakes via UPS before and they had no problem whatsoever.....it is AGAINST FEDERAL LAW to not mark the box as containing "Live, harmless reptiles." Also, do not ship USPS, like Jennifer said. Do it right!

Use fedex, UPS will kill it. Personal experience coupled with their rules...

I have never had probles with UPS, but have had problems with American Express and FedEx. It's all up to you who you choose to ship with. I have heard from people who have had problems with different companies, so it's all up to you; it can be a hit and miss thing.

I think that Delta Dash is the best overall.

Yeah, for people that live in Phoenix or Los Angeles or NY city, but for people no where near airports, it can be quite an inconvienance (not the case for me, but many don't live near one).

But you are right, Delta Dash is the safest way to ship animals.

Bubba was shipped to me through a reptile company. I'm pretty sure they used UPS, and he got here warm and healthy...

Airborne Express is a BAD idea.....they do not require signatures for deliveries, so your snake could be dropped off outside for god knows how long. I had this happen to me once.......not a good experience to say the least.

Same happened here, David. That was my bad experience with them. :( But, at least I was out there every 10 minutes to see if it had arrived or not. :)

Don't ship it! You're passing up a perfect opportunity for a road trip! Go collect memories!

Actually, as far as most good deliveries go, airborne is the best. They even use heated trucks unlike UPS. Dunno what their policies are.

The only bad experience I've had with A. E. was when about thirty Red eared slider turtles were being shipped to the rescue from Florida due to a border patrol arrest, anyhow someone in the "wharehouse" saw, live reptiles on the box and thought "oh they must be cold (had heat packs)" and put them out on the dock to warm up in the sun.
Does anyone know what happend to 30 RES turles next? You guess it, so I never got said turtles.
But other wise I think I've used delta dash and a few other, no problems thus far.

Yikes, Rusty, that's terrible! Those poor turtles getting slowly baked. At least the individual who did it had good intentions rather than trying to be cruel deliberately, and probably won't do it again after the first experience.

OH, man. That's terrible! If that happened, man I don't know what I'd do. (Suppose there isn't much I COULD have done, huh?).
