i really need help with my BP
So i have a female (6 YEAR OLD) BP and a male albino (maybe 2 years old) and Im having some serious problems. I took my girl out the other day and realized her belly was sorta pink and some of the scales were swollen and filled with liquid. Now this is the first time this has ever happened with her and Im very worried. Now with my male...obviously they have been spending a lot of time together if you know what i mean. Well i noticed today that around his private area it has turned a very strange color. can anyone help me Im very worried :tears:

Pics will help but liquid filled scales sound like a burn. How are you housing them? Describe your set up for us.

We'll help you all we can, but we need some additional info!

Pics of the snakes and the areas you're referring to will help and, yes, describe your setup in detail.

Does the heating pad have a thermostat?

Are you housing them both together?

Then I can almost gaurentee that your snake has a burn. Heating pad get hot enough to kill snakes.

You absolutely must have a thermostat

Here are 2 good ones, don't waste your money on the thermostats sold in pet stores

thank you so much. i been looking up a lot of stuff to try to see what she has but i couldn't find one thing that said for sure. i figured they might be blisters so i gave her a bath and made sure she was dry and cleaned her tank to make sure she didn't touch the pad anymore. ive had her for 6 years and i couldn't think of losing her yet.

+1 to this. I recommend you unplug the heat pad and read through the care sheet on this site and separate the two ASAP. You shouldn't be housing the male and female together except for intended breeding purposes. Are you ready to incubate eggs if the female becomes Gravid? Do you have plans to house and feed the babies?

yes ma am i do and thats the only reason they live together. we have a tank to put the other snake in for when the female becomes pregnant and we have the egg incubator for when she has her eggs. we already have everything for when she does birth

Those heat pads could reach up to 130+. An alternative would be a lamp dimmer which I'm currently using instead of a Thermostat. It works for me.

You may want to Put newspaper down as well. I wouldn't want that mulch hurting her worse.

Unplug heater, get a thermostat for her and one for incubator as well. Read up as much as you can on incubating and caring for new babies. Ask questions if you need to.

It does sound like she has been burned by the under tank heater. I suggest getting a thermostat to regulate it, and once that is in place, removing all the substrate and wiping it out with a mild bleach solution. Let that air out for about 30 minutes, then use only paper towels as a substrate. Clean the cage immediately if she defecates or urinates, and wipe it out the cleaning solution.

The point of doing this is to prevent infection of those wounds. If they get infected, it's going to require a vet visit. Right now, it probably should be seen by a vet, but if it gets worse, she'll NEED the vet to prescribe antibiotics.

I would recommend removing the male as well, because that is just going to stress out her system, and not only will it make it harder for her scales to heal, it's likely the stress will affect her clutch.

EDIT: I actually just took a look at the picture, and since the damage is SO extensive, I would take her to a vet anyway.

brosiababy91, I just took a look at the photo of your snake in the gallery.

Ma'am, your snake is burned pretty badly over a large area. I urge you in the strongest way possible to get your snake to a Vet at the earliest opportunity. She will need something on that burn, and probably a course of preventive antibiotics to hold off any infection.
