    What is this?
Trying to figure out what this is on the underside of this baby. Any ideas? http://img.tapatalk.com/b839acc2-fb22-3d78.jpg

I believe that is where the umbilical cord was attached when it was in the egg.

Ok good. That's what I figured but was wanting to be 100%.

It will totally close up and disappear as it grows. Nice looking little snake. Is this a morph as the head looks like it has something going on?

It is actually sold as a normal. His sides are Orange tinted his top is yellow. It's very cool. I'll take better pictures tonight.

    Belleh button!!!

It normally closes up quite quickly - did they say how old the snake was?

They did not. I seen a few spots that the shed stuck. He said he has only ate once so probably under 2 weeks.

I'm concerned that you may have been sold a baby that hasn't eaten yet. The umbilicus closes within days (or less usually) of emerging from the egg.

This leads me to believe it was either split too large at hatching, which can be caused by different things, or you have a baby that hasn't even had its first meal yet.

I second Dr dels question. Do you know how old it is?

Ok I see where you said it ate once. Was this with you?

It is the area where the umbilicus is but it appears to me to be too long and not properly closed. I believe this is often a result of incorrect incubation temps. I would be cautious here if this is what I suspect there is already issues with this breeder and I would be concerned about any breeder selling a snake with what appears to be a unclosed umbilicus.

This snake IMO should not be for sale, I would question the ethics of any breeder whom had this snake for sale with such an issue.

No it wasn't with me. Were getting a pinky tommorrow. For him. I got him at the reptile show. I didn't think nothing of the unclosed area. I don't think he's shed either. He's got pieces on him where you can see his shed. Is there anything I should do except feed himk

It looks like there's a scab in there when I look closer.

If you have a good vet in your area a trip might be in order... I'd also keep him on paper and keep everything very clean.

He's definately on newspaper. I'm going to try to feed him a pinky today. Unless you think I shouldn't.

    Hi,

    A pinky rat?

I ask as a pinky mouse is too small. I start even the smallest of mine on hopper mice.

It should close up fine just keep him on the paper substrate for the minute. :)

Yeah. I was going to feed a pinky mouse first then move from there. I know its too small but the store didn't have anything smaller than a sm rat. Since I don't breed my own food, I have to go with what I can get. Regardless, I tried it. It's currently in the tub now, with nothing. No response at all from him. He doesn't even seem interested.

    Hi,

Yeah I noticed they tended to ignore them when I tried them in the past.

Fingers crossed he eats it later.

I'm going to wait a few days and try maybe Thursday or Friday. Friday is feed and cleaning cage day anyways. I am however scared to offer anything too big bc I don't want to stretch the area on the belly too much. I know they can go a while before eating. I've done a few searches on here about it. I won't get too nervous for at least another 2 weeks.

Well, feed attempt 2, he didn't take it. The hole also isn't closed up. I tried rat pup. The store only had hoppers as next size up. So....... Yeah. Going to try again Wednesday. Since its my next day off. I'm really hoping he eats soon. I'm starting to have first twinges of doubt he'll be okay.
