You didn't provide an area deep enough to allow a deep sand/soil mixture- which they will use.. Also, seems a bit small for a croc, is it a temp cage? He should outgrow that in a few months may as well have just built his adult cage ;)

That definitely looks to be a monitor not a croc, but I agree that it should be longer than taller.

Croc Monitor....... Taller is fine for these animals, just the whole lacking substrate is kinda crap, if it's as big as it looks in the picture, it might not even be able to fully stretch out in their either, can't really tell that much.

Aesthetically it's a nice cage, for another arboreal animal, just not a croc monitor.

I have to agree, Croc monitors get HUGE and need a cage that would fill half a room to be comfortable.

Ahhhh, ok! I don't know much about Monitors so excuse my not knowing that. :oops:

We put this up in our house as a quick fix for him we went taller instead of wider to save room and because he enjoys climbing around. Ive got to say though he seems to enjoy this alot more then the vision cage he was stuck in when we got him. We did not build a bigger cage because we are working on a building to get our animals moved out of our home. As you can imagine they take up quite a bit of room especially with what we keep. His new home will be in here in just a few months time. Also not sure what the growth rate you guys are expecting with these animals but this particular animal has reached a healthy length and height and as most of you know they tend to start to slow down in growth rate.

Also the substrate problem would be an extremely easy fix all I would have to do is is simply cut a piece of wood to go over the inside of the door and simply fill. Just dont see him spending to much of his time on the floor unless hes being fed.

Hey Daniel, when did you pick up a salvadorii?? I didn't know you had one.

Make sure to give him 16 x 12 x 8 in your building. You and he won't regret it!!

We just got him about a month and half ago. We were called by a friend who told us he knew a kid who got a croc and was afraid of it and asked if we would take it. Turns out hes really not that bad at all he allows me to come in and clean and will walk right up and take ft off tongs from me. That far right wall in the building will be nothing but large monitor cages we are going to install either koi ponds or the stock tanks from feed stores and have them all plumbed out of the building so we can easily drain them spray them disinfect and refill. We also have a much smaller one that we are hoping is a female

Will do! Hopefully going to be kind of rushing it the next couple of months. We are ready to move everyone out. We still need to sink about 15-20 grand into it though before it will be "reptile friendly " lol.
