Worriedd :(
So, I've known that my baby has been close to shedding.
& her skin is all wrinkled right now. she's rubbing it off and whatever like normal.
I got her out and she was drooling. I tried to look inside her mouth and all this sticky drool came out.
I just had her at the vet wednesday. her temps/hudmidity are fine.
Her last shed was pretty perfect. & she's been eating finee.
Has anyone had this happen during a shed?
Or at all? was just just angry at me for getting her out?
I am super worried right now:(
-
Why was she at the Vet? I've never dealt with RI's, but that's what it sounds like to me...
-
She was at the vet for a re-check.
We went through Septicemia & lost an eye.. So, we've been at the vet almost every other week for re-checks, the last few months.
-
An RI is what i'm afraid of :/
Calling my vet as soon as they open in the morning.
-
Yikes...good luck...hope everything works out okay...
-
Yeahh..
she's been a pretty complicated baby :(
Nothing has been wrong lately though. This is the first time she's ever drooled.
Thankss. I hope it works out too. I am going to be sick if something is wrong again.
-
Is she all recovered from the Septicemia? As long as it's not a combination of things all at the same time, a vet should be able to deal with the RI...I hope...props for being a great snake Mommy/Daddy though...
-
Yeah, she's completely recovered from everything.
she wasn't drooling yesterday. So, hopefully if it is an RI i caught it at the beginning.
&Are you being sarcastic? or was that a serious comment?

Serious...and if she was fine yesterday surely you caught it early enough to fix it...I would bump up the heat in the mean time...that is supposed to help with RI's...keep us posted on what the Vet says...
-
I will.
&thankss for the "props". ha.
I've been beating myself up about her lately. I'm soo paranoid about her getting sick again.
thank you so much for posting back :)

Re: Worriedd :(
Just a thought, but is there any chance she had just taken a drink of water? From fine to pouring mucous in 24 hours seems to be a pretty extreme change to me. She would also likely be doing some serious mouth-breathing and gurgling at this point, if it is RI.
-
I was thinking that too. Its always best to err on the side of caution, but this came up rather quickly.
There is a thread where someones retic was drooling massive amounts, but it was just excess water from the stomach.

I know I almost do it sometimes when I drink a lot of water and then bend over.

Thank y'all for posting back :))
Sorry for taking so long to update... I had a super long weekend.
Took her to the vet friday morning though, he thinks it had to do with the shed & said she had some dry shed in her mouth? I'm not sure exactly what he said.. My dad picked her up & talked to them. So, i still need to call & ask.
She's fine though. No RI or anything.
I guess i was just paranoid :) lol
Better safe than sorry though, right? ;)

Its always better to be safe than sorry.

This just happened to me with my boa the other day, actually. I don't blame you for freaking out, it scared me as well.

Re: Worriedd :(
dry shed causing drooling in the mouth?? Weird
-
It sounds like water mouth. I find mine drinking more just before a shed. RI does not just go away nor does it just appear in late stages over night. It really sounds like something else. Paranoid is not a bad thing, any illness caught early is better than late!

I'm not sure if he said the dry shed caused the drooling, or just that she had some dry shed in her mouth.
like i said, i still need to call and see exactly what they said :) lol
