Which project has more legs? (final decision time)
So I am making a final decision on what to pick up next, and since this will be the most I have spent on a single animal, I wanted some further pointed input.
Before anyone says "get what you like", I like both projects equally, and they are within a few hundred bucks of each other.
#1. I have a line on a 275g female Champ het Hypo that I could eventually put with my Hypo Mojo. Best case: Mojo Mimosas and Mimosas
#2. I have a line on a 500g female Super Stripe that I could put with my Fire YB. Best case: Fire SS and Fire Ivories. This one is the more expensive of the 2.
A male OD is also in the back of my head, but I could pick up a male later in the year. I would rather raise up the females, I think.
So between the 2 projects listed above, what say you guys on which one has more legs for future development and which do you think will remain the most stable?

I had to vote for the champ het hypo. The champ stuff is killer and looking at your collection down the road towards mojo mimosa enchis would be insane. I am going to be adding champ to my collection this year when all the hatchlings start popping up. Can't wait for the unboxing video whichever way you end up going.

I have to second these comments. :gj:

None of them have legs, they are ball pythons!:D
Come on, someone had to say it!
-
I also vote the champ girl!
Champagne projects are still relatively rare. Lots of new things to come out of them.

Jinx, in my opinion, anything Champagne is going to be the next thing. And when I say next thing, I'm not talking about cutting edge stuff where there are only two examples in the world, and no one can afford them. I mean next thing like Pieds were once they fell below the $2000 price point.
In the next few years, Champagnes and Champagne combos will be the morph everyone wants to add to their collections because it's a perfect combination of rare but attainable for the average hobbyist.
And, honestly, for the next couple of years, anyone producing Champagnes will be able to sell them for premium prices to hobby breeders who'll be seeing some of the one-off high end combos that will be coming out, because they'll think they can do the same thing and will pay for the ingredients so they can try it themselves.
If you are going to get serious about making anything with a stripe, you should shoot for Red Devils.

Super Stripe!!!
Most Champ combos are just varying shades of Patternless...Kind of a dead end and Pretty Boring IMO!!!

Plus genetically speaking the Super Stripe brings so much more to the table...Who knows what other animals will pop up like the Puma and Highway stuff!

X2.
I, personally, feel the same way. In not really a fan of the Champs, not to say i wouldnt love one in my collection...I just think working with the SS would be much more visually(at least) rewarding.
However, Slim brings a great point in his comment.

I would have agreed with you before I saw the enchi champ, but now that we have the key to possibly unlock champagne potential, things could get VERY interesting :gj:.

voted #1, as I think this morph is becoming the next big thing. adding new styles and colours will be a fun journey. :-D good luck
-
I voted super stripe. Most of the champagne combos I've seen tend to be patternless.
Plus super stripes make some cool combos :) And I'd love to see a fire super stripe since there are no pictures of them on world of ball pythons morph list.

I'm one who is not a fan of champagnes. Except for the mimosa, it's a boring morph to me.

How difficult is it to tell what combos have spector in them though? Champagnes may only make patternless combos unless enchi is in added but i would hate to produce a combo that had specter in it thinking it was a single gene. I guess when you add more than 2 combos to champagnes you would have the same problem. How do you guys feel about this maybe this will help to make your decision.
-
I have not seen too many Specter crosses besides Pastel. I may have seen a Spider Specter as well. I do not think picking them out would be too difficult, so that is not an issue in my thought process here.
So far between here and the other board it seems pretty split, which mirrors my thoughts on it so far.
So, keep em comin'

Re: Which project has more legs? (final decision time)
I agree with Jon and Robin...to me, champs are kind of boring with very, very few exceptions. There are a lot more options and possibilities with the SS.
-
Go with what you like.... Hah. I say Champagne. I really like champagnes and feel like Slim is right, "they're the next big thing". Also if it's the cheaper combo you'll save some money and can pick up a really nice hypo or het hypo male to pair with her. I'm not sure if it "Has more legs" then the super stripe because it's a single het animal compared to a multi gene animal but the Champagne will give you a leg up on some of the nicer new projects. Last you already have a the genes to produce a super stripe so you can just make one and breed it back later and then get both :)

Re: Which project has more legs? (final decision time)
I'll likely get into both soon if I had too pick one right now I'd go Superstripe. Lots of different things you can do with them, plus you have the prospect of selling Spectors and Superstripes not just champs.
I love morphs that bring alot to the table IE Single gene's that have really cool Super's.
When it comes to champs I only like the Enchi combo.
-
Superstripe all the way, champs are nice on their own, not overly impressed with champ combos tho.
-
I chose the super stripe just because it also can be added into the puma projects.
-
I really don't care for champagne anything. I've seen at most one maybe two that I liked.
Superstripe on the other hand, has a lot of combo potential. I've seen a number of yb and spector combos that I liked, and there are more waiting to be created.
As much as I agree champagnes are indeed going to be hot in the coming years, I still wouldn't get one, I just don't like them.

Yea i really dont see the Champagne thing either. I think they are cool, but there are defly other ways i would go, without Champagne.

Decision Made!
Well, decision was made and trigger was pulled. If I dallied too long she would be sold. I will be collecting this little lady later in the week:
