Can you visually tell apart a pewter and a black pewter?
Pewters all look the same to me. Can anyone enlighten me how to tell the difference between a Cinnamon X Pastel and a Black Pastel X Pastel, WITHOUT knowing the parents?
I'm learning, and if this is a rudimentary question, sorry. I still suck at identifying morphs, especially then they are babies and they are often very bright. I can't even tell a firefly apart from a super pastel... :(
Re: Can you visually tell apart a pewter and a black pewter?
The patterning is different in that the black pewter has those blotches along the back? Or is it the dark splotches within the "rings"? And both of them have those rings along the sides, those are called alien heads right? So both have alien heads?

Thanks for the information people!
So basically the black pewters are darker. Don't you have variations in shades of lightness/darkness of individuals? What about a really dark cinny pewter? And what about the patterning differences described above?
Maybe best thing is I take a pic of my pewter and ask, but then again that's like giving me a fish and not teaching me how to fish :)
Re: Can you visually tell apart a pewter and a black pewter?
The thing that stands out most to me is that black pastels seems to have a very granitey look to their alien heads. Cinny pewters patterns are a lot smoother.

With regards to the "granite" look of the rings (alien head with one eye) of the black pastel, I looked at the morph guide just now and seems like the BHB line and Graziani line Cinnamons have clear rings, the black pastel has granite looking rings. But the Ralph Davis line of Cinnamons are also like the black pastels in that they have the "noise" in the rings. Gave me a lot better understanding to translate into pewters. However, how do you tell difference between black pastel and Ralph Davis line of Cinnamons? They are mentioned as being very similar with the same noise in the rings.

Then overall color would be up next.

My black pastel is darker and the white comes up more on his sides. He has the longer grainier looking markings on him also. The cinni pewter is brighter and the markings are more normal looking on his sides. I didn't think there was much of a difference until I saw a black pastel pewter for the first time. After I looked at the chain link marking on his back I had to have him. Hope the color compairison helps you out a little bit.

If you see them together thet are quite easy to tell apart. Thought that I had a comparison pic of mine, but sorry, I can't find it.
