Herpstat 1 vs. VE-200 (Video comparison)
Here is a brief head to head video for the two stats. I see a lot of "Which thermostat should I buy?" threads, so I hope this helps.

Great information. Thanks for the video. I am actually looking at both of these right now, so this video was very useful to me. I have been leaning toward the Herpstat, especially the higher end model Herpstat 4. I recently acquired a green tree python and the Herpstat 4 allows you to set 4 separate heat zones from one thermostat.

    Thanks again

Appreciate the information on these, I just purchased the VE-200 yesterday and I think it will be fine for what I need.

Very nice video, I personally feel that you get more for your dollar with the herpstat, but they are both very solid units and you can't go wring either way.

I feel the same, but I wanted to be as objective as possible in the video. Spyder Robotics really hit it out of the park with the new Herpstats.

Thanks for the video. How do you like the pulse of the VE-200 vs. the dimming with the Herpstat 1? I wonder if dimming is easier on the flexwatt (and other devices) than constantly being turned on and off.

They both seem to work fine. As for the flexwatt, that will be more of a long term question.

Hi jinx. Great side by side review. One question though. There was a scrolling sentence at the bottom of the video that said that the ve-200 remembers the settings after a power failure. Does this mean that the herpstat does not? Or does it go back to a default and then you have to set it up how you want it again? I feel like if spyder robotics packed all those other features in there, they would've also put in some kind of failsafe for power outages. A great video and also nice new Super stripe! (i didn't say that in the other thread)

The Herpstat keeps it in memory as well. I think when I edited the video that I was thinking I had mentioned it on one and not the other so I added the text. I probably forgot to mention it on both.

Okay, thanks. I use the VE-200s now but may look to the Herpstat 1 for my next one now.

Awesome information!! Thank you Im still on the fence with what unit I would need for our new BP. I like all the features with the Herpstat however I dont think I would actually be using half of them (ie:night temps's or cycles) The one think that I was looking for was humidity monitor. Or better yet, something to control it. I seen in the manual that they have a humidity probe (additional 55$ CDN) but it doesn't really go into details as to what this add on does or if its worth the additional cost. Right now I have one of those stick up humidity monitors and dont feel its accurate. I have a bad tendency of purchasing the additional things just to have that function ... but not even using it.

I have both units. The Herpstat and the ve-200 . Both of them are nice however. I bought the ve-200 first and then the herpstat I will buy the spider robotics products from now own. They seem to be better made and I like them better. That's just my view point.
