Female Vanilla
We are thinking of trading our male Ablino for a female Vanilla 1000 grams and was wondering if it fair deal or we can buy her $450 and was wondering if that a fair price or would the trade be good. I did a quick Goggle search but didn't find anything.
Thanks

$450 for a 1000 gram Vanilla female ? I'd ask for pictures. I sold my hatchling male vanillas for $250, so that sounds really low to me.

Yeah that is a REALLY good price for a 1000g female.

I'm waiting on the guy to email me pictures of her, I will post the pictures as soon as I get them.

If it really is a vanilla it's a great deal. The question is, is it a reputable person selling it? You need to find out if he produced it from a proven vanilla, or who he purchased it from. It IS light, but I've never seen a Vanilla with a black back pattern. That's not to say it can't happen, but I'd be 100% sure that I'm getting an actual Vanilla first. I'd be awfully mad if I bought one, put it to a fire, and never produced a single Vanilla Creme with it.
I also can't see the head stamp in this pic. I'd get a good head shot and a belly shot. The belly of a Vanilla is usually mostly clean.
Snakes, Jeeps, Dragons, Nature, & Knives.. Makes my world go-round!

I agree, definitely need a head shot for Vanilla ID.

Where did he get the vanilla from? It's a nice looking snake, I'd probably do the trade if I got a good vibe from the seller. Get a better picture, that one's too busy.

Here one more picture that he sent me, he said that is was in the baby boa bin while the her bin was getting clean.

That boa must really be 'smokin' if it needs a bic lighter in it's bin.
Last picture is good, I think I'd do it even if it probably has boa cooties now.
-
If she is indeed female definitely worth dinking around with regardless of whether or not she's vanilla. I'd do that trade in a heartbeat after confirming her sex.

What boa and lighter in the bin?
So it does look to be a Vanilla

So you would trade even if she would't be a vanilla?
Off topic but what does a Albino go for now a days? I would be trading the male Albino for her.

You originally posted the picture with the bic lighter (your first pic) with the message that she was in the boas bin. Made it look like the boa's bin was the original picture you posted with all the extra stuff in it including that bic lighter.
The head spot isn't real distinct, but that's probably because of the angle of the head in that picture, most head spot photos are taken from directly above. Still, you can see it's there. Like I said, if it were me, I'd do the trade.

Thanks I think I will do the trade tomorrow and I'll post better pictures of her then. I'm also will be picking up a chocolate female at the same time, will also be posting pictures of her as well. The chocolate female will paired with the male lemon blast.

Thats a smokin hot female for sure! I cant advise on the trade cuz i dont know much about IDing the morph in question but if it is a 1000g female Vanilla youre getting a steal! Lol

Yeah, I'd do that trade even if she doesn't turn out to be a vanilla provided she is close to the 1000g advertised and is indeed female. If it ends up being a male I'd probably let it slide unless I had no future plans for the albino male. This is just what I'd do though, it's your trade, gotta go with your own gut.
-
I actually have a male albino that I have no plans to breed, and I would definitely accept that trade, vanilla or not.... If it is in fact a FEMALE and is in fact 1000 grams, I don't care if it's a vanilla or not, I'd dinker around with her :gj:
-
She's a Vanilla all right, but it is very cheap, I would say 700-800$ would be fair.. If you don't buy her, I will ;)
-
Thanks for all the help guys, but we drove 2 hours to go and see her and we didn't go with the trade for a few reasons.
1. We read online that a Vanilla has a clean belly and she had black spot all over the belly.
2. Her scales around her mouth looked weird and her eye also.
3. The main reason was her vent, she was missing the last scale the one that covers her vent.
But we did pick up 3 2011 babies, but that a new thread I think. I will posting then soon.
-
Ah, I am sad to hear she was in such bad shape. Did they say why she looked like that?
-
He said only that all his adult female vents where like that, so we stopped looking at adult and got some babies instead. We didn't mention anything about the belly, and the scales on one side of her face were all shriveled up and it looked like there was at least 2 shed caps over that one eye on the same side of the face it kind of looked like a scab in the middle of the eye.

Wait a minute, he said that all of his adult females were missing their anal plate? errr... I'm not sure I would have even bought any babies from him after that revelation. Scales just don't fall off for no reason.
(BTW: does anyone else find it strange that it's called an Anal Plate even though snakes technically don't have an anus? The correct term for reptiles is cloaca so shouldn't it be called the cloacal plate? )
