Combo suggestions please
Can you suggest what are some cool mutations (preferably co-dom or dominant) that can be added to a killer bee?
The reason I ask is, at first, I wanted to breed killer bees, so I was planning to get a bumble bee male and breed it to a pastel female. However, my collection has progressed, and I now have two super pastel females that I am raising up (they are also het for genetic stripe). At first I was going to pair them up to a male killer bee, so the odds of getting a killer bee would be much greater than originally planned.
However, getting a killer bee to breed killer bee, seems, well, boring now. So wonder what I should go for to pair with my super pastel het g stripes? May as well get a gene that I don't have yet, instead of getting the killer bee with super pastel I have plenty of pastel. So maybe a bumble bee something, or a killer bee something? What would be a cool combo?

Well I was thinking of the fire too. :)
I don't want to add anything in the BEL complex because I plan on breeding that male to a lesser as well to get queen bee, and I don't want to end up with cool snakes genetically that I can't tell because they are all white.
Yellow belly, hmm, insteresting, let me look that up.

Personally I would combine the fire and yellow belly... I think that a Killer Bumble Belly Fire would be sick

You can tell the genetics of a BEL combo. Just look under a black light and see if a pattern appears. Like a Spider BEL will have spider markings under the black light.
Anything fire/yellowbelly is a must have in a collection. It will enhance every morph you have. Also, both fire and yellowbelly have a nice looking Super. (BlackEL and Ivory)
And I agree with the clown as a recessive project. Pastel G-Stripe Clowns would probably be phenomenal. I don't think any ones done that combo yet either.
Are you into darker morphs? What about Black Pastels?

Re: Combo suggestions please
I'm more into brighter colors than darker morphs but I do like black pastels. My friend has a black pastel het albino that he would lend me on breeding loan, but I am more interested in that for another project with my pieds.
Just wondering, has a super pastel fire spider been done yet? If so, how does it look like?
I do agree that Black eyed lucy and Ivory look great, but I really am not too interested in patternless snakes. That's why I don't want to do champagnes.

i agree with what aaron and satomi have said. Fire and yb would be my suggestions. They enhance alot of morphs very nicely.

Here is a Fire Bee (Pastel x spider x Fire)

Not sure about a Super Pastel x Spider x Fire but based off the fire bee my guess is that it would be hot.

Calico/Sugar. Even a miss can net you Caliders and Pastel Calicos along with more Bees. Calico Bumblebees are beyond sweet.

Correction - he can't make caliders with calico x killerbee, but he can make calico bumblebees! But yes, he can also make pastel calicos and more bumblebees!
I would suggest calico as my #1 suggestion
Can't get enough calibees or pastel calicos! That's the whole reason I got a calico!
If you want to brighten the colors, then I would go fire or YB, or fire YB male! If you want to bring more funkyness to the pattern and work with something relatively different, I would go with a calico - hands down.
-
I wouldn't breed anything to them that wasn't at the very least also Het G. Stripe...

Oh yeah, I was thinking Bumblebees, not Killers.

I now rethinking it and thinking instead of getting a killer bee, get a bumble bee + something, or a killer bee plus something.
So if I do get a fire bee, let's say, and breed to the females I can 1/8 chance get a super pastel fire spider, which I can't find on world of ball pythons. I wonder if its been done yet and if not I sure will want to try.

I wasn't going to breed it to the killer bee. I was going to GET a killer bee to breed to my females, but thinking of getting something else now.

Yes I agree, I will want to breed them to get something with G stripe, but I can still breed this year to something then in future years get something with G stripe, right? If so, I would get pastel G stripe so I could get super pastel G stripe.
Or perhaps I could use their offspring and just breed them back hoping that they would have G stripe het?
I don't know, maybe I will get something with G stripe right away too. I wasn't a big fan of G stripe but I was going to buy super pastel females, and I found one very expensive from the local dealer, then from another breeder (which I ordered from, they had super pastel het g stripe for LESS than the plain super pastel of the other dealer! So I got them.
I also have two lesser het banded females that are now over 1000 grams, so hopefully next year will be 1500 grams, which I got from there, because it was a good deal and I was just looking for lessers to breed to killer bee I planned to get to get queen bees. Now with all these extra hets for less price I am rethinking my projects... LOL! I feel lucky!

SuperBlast! Makes some great combinations. Also Silver Streaks would make some great combinations.

Super blast is not a problem because I have a lemon blast female :)
Silver streaks are nice but not sure how that relates I would have to get a black pastel pastel? I'm definitely going to do something with spider in it.
I think I will either do just killer bee, or fire bee. Maybe yellowbelly if I am lucky and get a good deal, and so far I've been lucky!

Re: Combo suggestions please
Wow, I checked the price for fire bees and they are not cheap at all! The cheapest I found was $2500. It would pay off though. Or maybe I should do it the cheap way and just get the killer bee, it would increase my chances of getting some of the things I planned to. Then add a fire or super fire female at some point.

Re: Combo suggestions please
I know the best answer! You should sell me one of your super pastel het G females to go with my pastel het G male. :D I am personally thinking about black pewter or fire next. Already have a female pastel.
