Hello everyone. I'm fairly new to the site ( lol..been lurking in the background for a while) and decided to join. I love this place, it's been very informative and everyone seems very nice and helpful. I'm still learning my way around and hope to post some pics of my babies as soon as I get an album together . I currently have two BP's and a Honduran Tangerine milksnake. Ching, my oldest BP is 40 inches long and weighs about 1100 grams. I got him this past June and not sure of the age or sex. I have yet to name my baby which I got for a B'day present last month. He/she is about 21 inches long. Not sure of the weight quite yet. I simply adore them all and hope to share their exploits with you on a regular basis. Again, just wanted to say hello to everyone :D

Hello everyone! I am also very new to the site. My son and daughter finally got their wishs and both got baby balls for Christmas! About a month ago I went to a friend who owns a reptile store and told him my kids wanted snakes, he suggested the balls, he had 3 coming in the next day, they are captive bred and it was easy to pick the 2 I wanted, one of them was striking a lot! I bought 2 and set up the cage in the store office till Christmas, they are in a 40gal breeder, I went there every day to get used to them, it took me 3 days to hold them, now I am in love! I hope I am doing everything correct. They ate pinky mice a few days after they got there, one of them was shedding, they ate well every week, I brought them home Christmas, they have been handled a lot and have been very friendly, I fed them last saturday, 2 pinkys each, I fed seperate and in a box and they both ate rite away! I was sooooooo happy! I gave them a bath and that went well too! All seems to be going very well so far, I did get a lot of info from this site, I'm sure I will have questions along the way.......................

Welcome to the site everyone, and to all those lurkers out there. Come on and join up this place is cool.

Kori, how long are your BP's? Mine is about 19" - 20" long and he is eatting 2 fully grown adult mice. The best way to judge the size of their food is get a mouse that is at least the size of the biggest part of their body.

Welcome to all

Welcome Kori! Just some FYI, baby ball pythons can eat rat pups or adult mice right out of the egg. So try to bump the prey size up. Other than that, enjoy your duo, and feel free to ask questions here, everyone is very helpful.

Happy new year,
Jennifer

Thank you for your responses!
They are both about 1 1/2 ft or so, one is a little thicker than the other. I have a friend in town called "the rat man" he raises rats and mice so I can get whatever I need from him. I noticed that some people say you shouldn't hold them after they eat, we did and they were fine, is that not a good idea?
I'm going to try to put some pictures on if I can figure out how!

Wolfman,
One of mine looks identical to the one you have pictured, I think about the same size.

Once they eat, they need to be left completely alone for about 2-3 days. If they are handled after they eat, they may regurgitate (throw up their food). That puts ALOT of stress on the snake. ;)

Thanks for the tip................. They did well this time but I really want to follow the rules, so to speak!
They are very social, they love to be out, I don't see them as being shy at all. I wish I knew their sex but the vet said they were to young yet, I wasn't real fond of the vet so I'm looking for a new one.

Wolfman,
I finally measured them...........I think, it wasn't easy!
The one that looks like yours is about 20" and the other is close to 22",
So what should I feed them, a pinky rat maybe, or fuzzy??

I feed mine 2 adult mice once a week. Sometimes I feed him a small rat something a little bigger than fuzzy or hopper. The last time I feed him that I didn't think that he would be able to get it down, but he did. I would try feeding them a fuzzy rat one week and see how they do. After they get it down, look for the buldge in their stomach if it is that noticable then go with that until you can not see any buldge. But generally you want to feed them food that is the size of their bigest part of their body. We want to see some pics whenever you can get them up. Approx. how old are they?

Not sure on the age or sex, I assume a few months or so, I'm a rookie so I have no clue.
How do I put pics on? I will feed them again this weekend and I'll try the fuzzy rats.
Thanks Again

Ok Kori to post pics you need to have it already uploaded online. Right click on the picture that you want to post, click on the properties menu, then highlight the url name. When you post it here you need to type the following:

Make sure you add the img's before and after the url. That should do it.
